Indispensable \u00e0 la vie sur Terre, l\u2019eau intrigue depuis bien longtemps les scientifiques.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Publi\u00e9s dans la revue Science, ces recherches soutiennent la th\u00e9orie selon laquelle l\u2019eau est depuis toujours une histoire terrestre. Elle serait pr\u00e9sente depuis la gen\u00e8se de notre plan\u00e8te, pi\u00e9g\u00e9e dans les grains de poussi\u00e8re. Des traces d\u2019eau contenues dans les roches du manteau . Pour en arriver \u00e0 de tels r\u00e9sultats, les chercheurs ont analys\u00e9 les traces d\u2019eau contenues \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur de minuscules bulles cristallis\u00e9es dans les roches de lave provenant du manteau inf\u00e9rieur de la Terre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leurs travaux se sont centr\u00e9s principalement sur la proportion entre l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne et le deut\u00e9rium, un isotope de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, contenu dans l\u2019eau. Les scientifiques connaissent la valeur exacte de cette proportion dans les oc\u00e9ans. Ainsi, pour savoir d\u2019o\u00f9 vient l\u2019eau, ils cherchent \u00e0 comparer ce r\u00e9sultat \u00e0 celui calcul\u00e9 de traces retrouv\u00e9es par exemple sur des com\u00e8tes, des m\u00e9t\u00e9orites ou plus r\u00e9cemment sur des roches volcaniques provenant des profondeurs de la Terre. Elle ajoute : \u00ab\u00a0Ils font partie des rochers les plus primitifs que nous ayons trouv\u00e9s \u00e0 la surface de la Terre\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ainsi, l&rsquo;eau qu&rsquo;ils contiennent repr\u00e9sente pour les scientifiques une incroyable opportunit\u00e9 de mieux comprendre l\u2019histoire de cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment et son origine. \u00ab\u00a0Nous avons constat\u00e9 que l&rsquo;eau pr\u00e9sentait tr\u00e8s peu de deut\u00e9rium, ce qui sugg\u00e8re fortement qu&rsquo;elle n&rsquo;a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 apport\u00e9e sur Terre apr\u00e8s qu&rsquo;elle se soit form\u00e9e puis refroidie\u00a0\u00bb, souligne Lydia Hallis. \u00ab\u00a0Les mol\u00e9cules d&rsquo;eau ont au contraire \u00e9t\u00e9 probablement apport\u00e9es par la poussi\u00e8re qui existait dans un disque autour du Soleil avant que les plan\u00e8tes ne se forment.
