Ces derniers sont particuli\u00e8rement connus pour avoir rythm\u00e9 la dynamique des phases glaciaires et interglaciaires au cours du Quaternaire, mais de nombreuses \u00e9tudes montrent que ces variations de l\u2019ordre de la dizaine \u00e0 la centaine de milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9es se sont aussi manifest\u00e9es dans des p\u00e9riodes g\u00e9ologiques plus recul\u00e9es. Cependant, se peut-il que de grands mouvements astronomiques r\u00e9gulent la dynamique du climat \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle de plusieurs millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es ? Et si oui, par quel processus ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette \u00e9tude repose sur une analyse (spectrale) in\u00e9dite la composition g\u00e9ochimique de b\u00e9lemnites, des c\u00e9phalopodes fossiles ressemblant \u00e0 des calamars, ayant enregistr\u00e9 la composition isotopique en carbone et oxyg\u00e8ne de l\u2019eau de mer entre -200 et -125 Ma (millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es). M\u00eame si le lien entre composition chimique de l\u2019eau et grands cycles astronomiques reste d\u00e9battu, les auteurs sugg\u00e8rent qu\u2019une orbite tr\u00e8s elliptique sur le long terme favoriserait des contrastes climatiques saisonniers importants comme les moussons et s\u00e9cheresses intenses, d\u00e9favorables \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation du carbone organique sur Terre.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En revanche, les p\u00e9riodes \u00e0 orbite plus circulaire pourraient avoir conduit \u00e0 des climats humides et stables favorisant le d\u00e9veloppement de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation, la productivit\u00e9 marine et la pr\u00e9servation de mati\u00e8re organique.
