En voici un nouveau sur le venin de la gu\u00eape. C&rsquo;est tout simplement tr\u00e8s encourageant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Une toxine contenue dans le venin la gu\u00eape Polybia paulista pr\u00e9sente une propri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tonnante : elle tue sp\u00e9cifiquement les cellules canc\u00e9reuses sans endommager les autres.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Polybia paulista est une esp\u00e8ce de gu\u00eape agressive vivant au Br\u00e9sil et dont la piq\u00fbre n&rsquo;a vraiment rien d&rsquo;agr\u00e9able. Un ind\u00e9sirable donc. Pourtant, selon une \u00e9tude publi\u00e9e au mois de septembre 2015 dans la revue Biophysical Journal, son venin pourrait bien pr\u00e9senter un int\u00e9r\u00eat th\u00e9rapeutique non n\u00e9gligeable pour combattre le cancer. Comment ? La surface membranaire des cellules canc\u00e9reuses pr\u00e9sente des particularit\u00e9s qui conduisent la toxine MP1 \u00e0 privil\u00e9gier ces derni\u00e8res. En effet, dans ce type de cellules malades, les lipides se pr\u00e9sentent en surface de la membrane. Contrairement aux cellules saines o\u00f9 ces lipides sont \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur. Or, la toxine MP1 tend pr\u00e9f\u00e9rentiellement \u00e0 interagir avec ces lipides. Les chercheurs expliquent ainsi que c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;action combin\u00e9e de deux prot\u00e9ines qui permet d&rsquo;attaquer la membrane des cellules malades.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Potentiellement moins d&rsquo;effets ind\u00e9sirables en chimioth\u00e9rapie<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0Cette d\u00e9couverte pourrait \u00eatre utile dans le d\u00e9veloppement de nouvelles th\u00e9rapies combin\u00e9es, o\u00f9 de multiples m\u00e9dicaments sont utilis\u00e9s simultan\u00e9ment pour traiter un cancer en attaquant les diff\u00e9rentes parties des cellules canc\u00e9reuses en m\u00eame temps\u00a0\u00bb, explique le Dr Paul Beales, un chercheur de l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 de Leeds co-auteur de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude. Test\u00e9e chez la souris, la strat\u00e9gie est encore loin d&rsquo;\u00eatre valid\u00e9e pour une application sur l&rsquo;homme. Elle offre toutefois l&rsquo;espoir d&rsquo;obtenir une chimioth\u00e9rapie moins agressive pour les patients en occasionnant moins d&rsquo;effets ind\u00e9sirables.
