Il s\u2019agit de copier le principe de la photosynth\u00e8se mais \u00e0 une vitesse et un rendement bien plus forts que chez les v\u00e9g\u00e9taux, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une bact\u00e9rie qui se \u00ab nourrit \u00bb d\u2019\u00e9lectrons. Tout ce dont ce syst\u00e8me a besoin, c\u2019est donc d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de Co2, d\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019id\u00e9e de Lovley d\u2019utiliser l\u2019\u00e9nergie solaire. La production est donc possible sans avoir \u00e0 renouveler un stock de biomasse par exemple, ce qui \u00e9limine les co\u00fbts de transports et de stockage de mati\u00e8re organique en d\u00e9composition. Moins d\u2019eau est \u00e9galement n\u00e9cessaire et il n\u2019y a pas d\u2019\u00e9tape de fermentation. Pour le moment, l\u2019\u00e9quipe de Lovley se concentre sur la production d\u2019ac\u00e9tyl-coenzyme-A, un produit de base de la chimie \u00e0 partir duquel peuvent \u00eatre cr\u00e9\u00e9s d\u2019autres produits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; color: #000000;\">Lovley a aussi pris en compte la capacit\u00e9 de l\u2019industrie \u00e0 adopter ses innovations et en ce sens, son invention semble ais\u00e9ment impl\u00e9mentable.
