Un groupe de quatre volcans submerg\u00e9s a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert, en juin, \u00e0 quelques 250 km au large de Sydney (Australie). Selon les scientifiques, qui ont officialis\u00e9 cette d\u00e9couverte lundi 12 juillet 2015, cela devrait permettre de mieux comprendre la s\u00e9paration de la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande d\u2019avec le socle continental australien, il y a des dizaines de millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">R\u00e9partis sur une vingtaine de kilom\u00e8tres, ces volcans \u00e9teints reconstituent une sorte de \u00ab lucarne sur le sous-sol \u00bb du fond marin, selon Richard Arculus, vulcanologue de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 nationale d\u2019Australie. Et d\u2019ajouter : \u00ab Ils nous racontent une partie de l\u2019histoire de la s\u00e9paration il y a 40 \u00e0 80 millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es de la Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande et de l\u2019Australie.
