Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne caus\u00e9 par une temp\u00eate solaire s&rsquo;est av\u00e9r\u00e9 inhabituel par son ampleur et sa localisation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Il fallait \u00eatre un couche-tard ou bien un l\u00e8ve-t\u00f4t pour avoir la chance d&rsquo;assister \u00e0 l&rsquo;aurore bor\u00e9ale de lundi et de mardi dernier. Mais de nombreux habitants aux \u00c9tats-Unis ont tout de m\u00eame pu assister \u00e0 ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne exceptionnel dans la r\u00e9gion. En effet d&rsquo;ordinaire, ces \u00ab\u00a0lumi\u00e8res du nord\u00a0\u00bb apparaissent beaucoup plus au nord, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du p\u00f4le, d&rsquo;o\u00f9 leur nom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cette fois-ci, cependant, les grands rubans vert et rose \u00e9taient visibles dans des zones habituellement hors d&rsquo;atteinte, notamment dans plusieurs \u00e9tats dont le Texas. Les particules charg\u00e9es du vent solaire sont alors venues frapper la haute atmosph\u00e8re, cr\u00e9ant les couleurs caract\u00e9ristiques des aurores polaires. Ces lueurs sont dues \u00e0 l&rsquo;excitation des mol\u00e9cules d&rsquo;azote (pour le rouge et le violet) et d&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne (pour le vert et le rouge).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La plus grande temp\u00eate solaire depuis mars ?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selon le Centre de pr\u00e9diction de la m\u00e9t\u00e9o spatiale, le puissant souffle de plasma magn\u00e9tique a \u00e9t\u00e9 expuls\u00e9 par le Soleil dimanche. Ce dernier a parcouru plus rapidement que d&rsquo;ordinaire la distance le s\u00e9parant de la Terre.
