Par 100 m\u00e8tres de fond, au large de Chez-le-Bart (NE), se trouvait un crat\u00e8re de 160 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre pour 10 de profondeur.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ces travaux scientifiques sont publi\u00e9s dans la revue \u00abGeophysical Research Letters\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00abCela montre que m\u00eame au 21e si\u00e8cle en Suisse, des d\u00e9couvertes passionnantes sont possibles\u00bb, indique la scientifique, cit\u00e9e dans un communiqu\u00e9 de l&rsquo;EPFZ. Dans le cadre du projet \u00abDynamite\u00bb du Fonds national suisse, elle cherchait en fait des traces d&rsquo;anciens tremblements de terre mais elle a fait des crat\u00e8res sa th\u00e8se de doctorat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Au total, quatre de ces formations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9es, toutes sur la c\u00f4te nord-ouest du lac et \u00e0 une profondeur de plus de 100 m\u00e8tres. La plupart se situe dans le prolongement de zones de rupture tectonique connues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le plus grand, baptis\u00e9 \u00abCrazy Crater\u00bb, est parfaitement circulaire. Au fond se trouve un couvercle de boue sous lequel les chercheurs ont trouv\u00e9 une chemin\u00e9e de 60 m\u00e8tres d&rsquo;o\u00f9 sort un m\u00e9lange \u00e9pais d&rsquo;eau et de s\u00e9diments en suspension. L&rsquo;explication la plus probable de ces d\u00e9pressions vient donc de ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes karstiques dans le Jura. L&rsquo;eau circulant sous la cha\u00eene de montagne se retrouverait ainsi au fond du lac. \u00ab\u00a0En d&rsquo;autres termes, il s&rsquo;agit de sources\u00a0\u00bb, indique la chercheuse. Le plus grand des crat\u00e8res n&rsquo;a toutefois plus expuls\u00e9 de s\u00e9diments depuis 1600 ans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les scientifiques ont \u00e9galement constat\u00e9 que de temps \u00e0 autre, la suspension d\u00e9borde du crat\u00e8re, comme une \u00e9ruption volcanique. Depuis la derni\u00e8re glaciation, cela s&rsquo;est produit au moins quatre fois, la premi\u00e8re il y a 12&rsquo;000 ans et la derni\u00e8re il y a 1600 ans, selon les relev\u00e9s de s\u00e9diments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pour l&rsquo;heure, les chercheurs ont fait des relev\u00e9s au sonar des zones de plus de 30 m\u00e8tres de profondeur. On ignore si d&rsquo;autres crat\u00e8res existent \u00e0 de plus faibles profondeurs.
