Dans leur article publi\u00e9 dans la revue Science, ils expliquent que le gaz provenait des zones humides du Nord et non de s\u00e9diments oc\u00e9aniques, comme on le pensait auparavant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">La derni\u00e8re p\u00e9riode glaciale a \u00e9t\u00e9 ponctu\u00e9e de pr\u00e8s de 25 \u00e9pisodes de r\u00e9chauffement rapide baptis\u00e9s \u00ab\u00e9v\u00e8nements de Dansgaard-Oeschger\u00bb, qui se produisaient chaque centaines d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es et persistaient sur des d\u00e9cennies enti\u00e8res. Les \u00e9tudes de carottes glaciaires r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que les \u00e9v\u00e8nements de Dansgaard-Oeschger co\u00efncident avec les p\u00e9riodes o\u00f9 les taux de m\u00e9thane atmosph\u00e9rique \u00e9taient relativement \u00e9lev\u00e9s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Les scientifiques se sont longtemps interrog\u00e9s sur l&rsquo;origine de ce m\u00e9thane. Selon une th\u00e9orie populaire appel\u00e9e \u00abhypoth\u00e8se du fusil \u00e0 clathrates\u00bb, le gaz a p\u00e9n\u00e9tr\u00e9 l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re lorsque l&rsquo;augmentation des temp\u00e9ratures oc\u00e9aniques sur les c\u00f4tes continentales a d\u00e9clench\u00e9 la lib\u00e9ration de m\u00e9thane, lequel a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 stock\u00e9 sous forme de clathrate dans les fonds marins. Mais d&rsquo;autres chercheurs avancent que le gaz provenait des zones humides au Nord. D&rsquo;autres questions ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soulev\u00e9es, concernant notamment l&rsquo;influence de l&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e9vation des temp\u00e9ratures dans la lib\u00e9ration de m\u00e9thane ou vice-versa, car le m\u00e9thane est un puissant gaz \u00e0 effet de serre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pour mettre un peu d&rsquo;ordre dans toutes ces interrogations, des scientifiques du Danemark, d&rsquo;Allemagne et de Suisse ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le m\u00e9thane provenant de bulles d&rsquo;air emprisonn\u00e9es dans des carottes glaciaires pr\u00e9lev\u00e9es dans la banquise du Groenland. Ces bulles offrent un aper\u00e7u de la composition de l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re dans un pass\u00e9 lointain. Dans cette \u00e9tude, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe s&rsquo;est concentr\u00e9e sur des \u00e9chantillons de carottes glaciaires datant d&rsquo;une p\u00e9riode comportant deux \u00e9v\u00e8nements de Dansgaard-Oeschger entre 33 700 et 41 000 ans en arri\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">L&rsquo;\u00e9quipe a exploit\u00e9 le fait que certaines mol\u00e9cules de m\u00e9thane poss\u00e8dent quelques neutrons en plus et sont plus lourdes que la normale. El\u00e9ment important \u00e0 signaler, le m\u00e9thane des zones humides poss\u00e8de moins de mol\u00e9cules \u00ablourdes\u00bb que le m\u00e9thane oc\u00e9anique.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">L&rsquo;analyse a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que le m\u00e9thane provenait des zones humides dans les hautes latitudes Nord en r\u00e9ponse au r\u00e9chauffement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Les scientifiques soulignent que cette p\u00e9riode de changement climatique dramatique d&rsquo;il y a 40000 ans ne peut \u00eatre compar\u00e9e \u00e0 la p\u00e9riode actuelle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00abNos r\u00e9sultats ne signifient pas que le m\u00e9thane ou les autres gaz \u00e0 effet de serre n&rsquo;ont pas influenc\u00e9 le changement climatique; cependant, cette \u00e9tude refl\u00e8te les conditions climatiques naturelles au cours du dernier \u00e2ge de glace, longtemps avant que l&rsquo;humanit\u00e9 n&rsquo;ait un impact n\u00e9gatif sur le climat mondial en \u00e9mettant des gaz \u00e0 effet de serre\u00bb, nuan\u00e7aient-ils.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00ab\u00c0 cette \u00e9poque le changement climatique avait provoqu\u00e9 une augmentation de la concentration du m\u00e9thane, g\u00e9n\u00e9rant ainsi un effet de serre consid\u00e9rable.
