Telle est l&rsquo;opinion acad\u00e9micien Alexandre Sheindlin, directeur de l&rsquo;Institut unifi\u00e9 des hautes temp\u00e9ratures, et d&rsquo;Andrew Beetle, directeur adjoint pour la science dans le m\u00eame institut.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Les ressources \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques traditionnelles (p\u00e9trole, charbon et gaz naturel) sont de plus en plus co\u00fbteuses, et leur extraction et transport conduisent souvent \u00e0 de graves probl\u00e8mes environnementaux.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">R\u00e9cemment, les experts ont discut\u00e9 des perspectives de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, car ce dernier poss\u00e8de un potentiel \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique tr\u00e8s \u00e9lev\u00e9, mais pr\u00e9sente deux inconv\u00e9nients majeurs: une tr\u00e8s faible densit\u00e9 de gaz et une forte explosivit\u00e9. En revanche, l&rsquo;aluminium, qui est proche du potentiel \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, ne pr\u00e9sente pas les m\u00eames probl\u00e8mes. L&rsquo;un d&rsquo;eux est un processus \u00e9lectrochimique, qui a attir\u00e9 l&rsquo;attention des chercheurs. Les sp\u00e9cialistes de l&rsquo;Institut ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une s\u00e9rie d&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e9ments combustibles air-aluminium. Un tel \u00e9l\u00e9ment est compos\u00e9 d&rsquo;une anode \u00e0 faible alliage dilu\u00e9 d&rsquo;aluminium et une cathode avec un catalyseur poreux \u00e0 base de charbon actif. L&rsquo;anode et la cathode sont s\u00e9par\u00e9es par un \u00e9lectrolyte alcalin. Dans la pratique, le rendement thermodynamique de cet \u00e9l\u00e9ment atteint 55%.
