Ce sont des dispositifs qui utilisent les moteurs comme des g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs afin de ralentir le v\u00e9hicule. Mitsubishi Denki a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un syst\u00e8me qui permet de stocker l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie ainsi lib\u00e9r\u00e9e, \u00e0 la fois \u00e0 bord du train mais \u00e9galement dans des batteries dispos\u00e9es le long de la voie ferr\u00e9e dont l&rsquo;alimentation se fait via les cat\u00e9naires. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9 entre avril et juin 2009 sur les lignes de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Odakyu Electric Railway (Tokyo et Kanagawa).<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">L&rsquo;\u00e9nergie ainsi stock\u00e9e est utilis\u00e9e pour la traction du train. Les batteries situ\u00e9es \u00e0 terre peuvent restituer l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 via les cat\u00e9naires ; celles embarqu\u00e9es \u00e0 bord du train sont destin\u00e9es au fonctionnement de celui-ci lorsqu&rsquo;il circule sur des voies non \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es. Le syst\u00e8me de simulation prend notamment en compte les param\u00e8tres relatifs au comportement du train et aux dispositifs de stockage. Il est \u00e9quip\u00e9 de neuf batteries Li-ion de 600 V et 163 kWh chacune. Sa vitesse maximale est de 100 km\/h et son autonomie de 50 km (distance calcul\u00e9e sans compter l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 consomm\u00e9e pendant l&rsquo;arr\u00eat en gare).<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Le moteur est aliment\u00e9 par les cat\u00e9naires et\/ou les batteries. Ces derni\u00e8res sont recharg\u00e9es soit par les cat\u00e9naires, soit lors du freinage. JR East \u00e9tudie \u00e9galement un syst\u00e8me qui permettrait de recharger les batteries en gare, m\u00eame dans les zones o\u00f9 les lignes ne sont pas \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Le train est test\u00e9 depuis octobre au JR East Omiya General Rolling Stock Center de Saitama. Il le sera \u00e0 partir de janvier 2010 sur des lignes commerciales.
