Orion, qui remplacera les navettes Discovery, Atlantis et Endeavour, doit emmener des astronautes vers la Lune et Mars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00abLockheed sera responsable de la conception, du d\u00e9veloppement, des essais et de l&rsquo;\u00e9valuation du nouveau vaisseau\u00bb Orion, a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 l\u2019agence spatiale am\u00e9ricaine<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Lockheed Martin a remport\u00e9\u00a0en Aout 2006\u00a0un contrat pharaonique qui pourrait grimper \u00e0 8 milliards de dollars si la Nasa exerce toutes les options pr\u00e9vues. Lockheed \u00e9tait en concurrence avec un partenariat entre Northrop Grumman et Boeing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dix fois plus s\u00fbr pour les astronautes<\/p>\n<p>Une premi\u00e8re pour le g\u00e9ant de l\u2019a\u00e9ronautique. Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 maintenant, Boeing et les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s qu&rsquo;il a acquises entre-temps ont toujours construit les vaisseaux pour vols habit\u00e9s de la Nasa. Seule exception, mais de taille : la capsule utilis\u00e9e pour l&rsquo;alunissage historique de 1969, construite par Grumman. L&rsquo;action Lockheed a gagn\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 2% \u00e0 84,24 dollars apr\u00e8s la cl\u00f4ture de Wall Street \u00e0 l&rsquo;annonce du choix de la Nasa en Aout 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Orion doit emmener des astronautes sur la Lune avant 2020, et effectuer le premier vol habit\u00e9 vers Mars. Cette capsule de 5,50 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre pour 25 tonnes rappelle l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or de la conqu\u00eate spatiale. Contrairement aux navettes en service actuellement, Orion n\u2019aura pas d\u2019ailes. Autre mesure de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 : le module comprendra une fus\u00e9e de secours pour un retour d\u2019urgence. Ainsi, la Nasa d\u00e9crit Orion comme \u00ab le mariage de la meilleure technologie d&rsquo;Apollo et de la navette, financi\u00e8rement abordable, souple d&rsquo;utilisation et dix fois plus s\u00fbr pour les astronautes\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s les tests de Lockheed Martin, Orion pourra rejoindre l\u2019espace, avant 2014 selon la Nasa. La capsule effectuera d\u2019abord des voyages en orbite basse, et pourrait servir \u00e0 ravitailler la Station Spatiale Internationale.
