Si bien souvent ils ne sont accompagn\u00e9s que de chutes de pluies, synonymes de soulagement en ces p\u00e9riodes de chaleur, il en est qui apportent gr\u00eale, vents destructeurs et tornades. Conna\u00eetre la distribution de ces violents orages dans le monde repr\u00e9sente donc un enjeu important.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">En d\u00e9cortiquant les donn\u00e9es globales enregistr\u00e9es par le satellite TRMM entre 1998 et 2004, les scientifiques ont pu identifier les r\u00e9gions de la Terre qui doivent faire face aux orages les plus intenses. C&rsquo;est en Argentine, au-dessus du versant est de la Cordill\u00e8re des Andes o\u00f9 de l&rsquo;air chaud et humide se heurte souvent \u00e0 un air plus froid et plus sec, qu&rsquo;ils ont relev\u00e9 les plus puissants orages. Etonnamment, quelques r\u00e9gions semi-arides, incluant les franges m\u00e9ridionales du Sahara, l&rsquo;Australie du nord et des parties du sous-continent indien, connaissent de forts orages. En revanche, des zones pluvieuses telles que l&rsquo;Amazonie occidentale, l&rsquo;Asie du sud-est et l&rsquo;Indon\u00e9sie sont le si\u00e8ge d&rsquo;orages fr\u00e9quents mais en majorit\u00e9 peu inqui\u00e9tants. En plus d&rsquo;avoir \u00e0 son bord le seul radar de pr\u00e9cipitation dans l&rsquo;espace, d&rsquo;autres instruments de TRMM fournissent un chevauchement de donn\u00e9es extr\u00eamement utiles pour \u00e9tudier les orages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/laterredufutur.com\/spaw\/images\/repartition.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Les r\u00e9sultats de cette \u00e9tude aident \u00e0 quantifier les diff\u00e9rences entre les orages qui se produisent dans diff\u00e9rents r\u00e9gimes climatiques autour du monde.
