Les deux taches sont d&rsquo;\u00e9normes temp\u00eates. Le sommet de la plus importante, la Grande Tache Rouge, se situe \u00e0 environ 8 kilom\u00e8tres au-dessus des nuages voisins. C&rsquo;est le plus grand ouragan connu dans le Syst\u00e8me Solaire. La plus petite (officiellement nomm\u00e9e Oval BA, mais connue sous le nom de Tache Rouge Junior) est un autre syst\u00e8me cyclonique. Sa luminosit\u00e9 semblable \u00e0 celle de la Grande Tache Rouge dans l&rsquo;infrarouge laisse penser qu&rsquo;elle se situe \u00e0 une altitude comparable dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re de Jupiter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.laterredufutur.com\/spaw\/images\/jupiter-rencontre-taches-rouges-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">La Tache Rouge Junior est moiti\u00e9 moins \u00e9tendue que la Grande Tache, mais ses vents soufflent aussi fort. Cette puissante temp\u00eate est n\u00e9e entre 1998 et 2000 de la fusion de trois plus petites temp\u00eates blanches persistantes de forme ovale, qui \u00e9taient connues depuis au moins 60 ans. Ce n&rsquo;est cependant que le 27 F\u00e9vrier dernier qu&rsquo;un astronome amateur philippin a d\u00e9couvert que la couleur de l&rsquo;ovale blanc nouvellement form\u00e9 avait vir\u00e9 au rouge brique. Les temp\u00eates ovales qui constituent la Tache Rouge Junior sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 pass\u00e9es de nombreuses fois pr\u00e8s de la Grande Tache Rouge. Le courant atmosph\u00e9rique qui les entra\u00eenent n&rsquo;ont pas la m\u00eame vitesse. Il est toutefois possible que la Grande Tache puisse pousser maintenant, ou dans le futur, la Tache Junior dans un courant sud qui souffle dans un sens contraire. Si la rotation de la Tache Rouge Junior ralentit, sa couleur pourrait revirer au blanc, mais cela reste incertain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Chaque tache tourne avec Jupiter sur un rythme l\u00e9g\u00e8rement diff\u00e9rent, et avec le temps leur position relative \u00e9volue, ce qui provoque des rencontres rapproch\u00e9es telles que celle-ci. C&rsquo;est cependant ici la premi\u00e8re depuis que la plus petite tache s&rsquo;est intensifi\u00e9e et a vir\u00e9 au rouge.
