Cette th\u00e9orie tant recherch\u00e9e porte un nom : <strong>la gravit\u00e9 quantique<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, ses effets \u00e9taient suppos\u00e9s extr\u00eamement difficiles \u00e0 observer. Ils devraient surtout appara\u00eetre dans des environnements extr\u00eames, comme au c\u0153ur des trous noirs ou aux toutes premi\u00e8res fractions de seconde apr\u00e8s le Big Bang. Au contraire, elle <strong>acc\u00e9l\u00e8re<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Pour expliquer ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne, les cosmologistes ont introduit l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019une composante myst\u00e9rieuse appel\u00e9e <strong>\u00e9nergie noire<\/strong>, qui repr\u00e9senterait aujourd\u2019hui environ les deux tiers du contenu \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique total de l\u2019Univers.<\/p>\n<p>Le probl\u00e8me est que personne ne sait r\u00e9ellement ce qu\u2019est cette \u00e9nergie noire.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le mod\u00e8le cosmologique standard, elle peut \u00eatre repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par une constante cosmologique, mais cette solution soul\u00e8ve une difficult\u00e9 majeure : les estimations issues de la physique quantique sont extraordinairement \u00e9loign\u00e9es de la valeur observ\u00e9e dans l\u2019Univers.<\/p>\n<p>Il existe donc probablement quelque chose que notre compr\u00e9hension actuelle de la gravit\u00e9 ou du vide quantique ne saisit pas encore correctement.<\/p>\n<h2>Une incertitude appliqu\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019Univers entier<\/h2>\n<p>Le physicien <strong>Savvas Koushiappas<\/strong>, de l\u2019universit\u00e9 Brown, propose une nouvelle piste.<\/p>\n<p>Son id\u00e9e consiste \u00e0 appliquer un principe rappelant l\u2019incertitude quantique \u00e0 la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie cosmique elle-m\u00eame.<\/p>\n<p>En m\u00e9canique quantique, certaines propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques ne peuvent pas \u00eatre connues simultan\u00e9ment avec une pr\u00e9cision parfaite. Surtout, une th\u00e9orie physique ne devient r\u00e9ellement convaincante que lorsqu\u2019elle produit des pr\u00e9dictions que les observations peuvent tester.<\/p>\n<p>Et c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u00e0 que les prochaines ann\u00e9es pourraient devenir int\u00e9ressantes.<\/p>\n<h2>DESI, Euclid et Rubin vont tester l\u2019expansion cosmique<\/h2>\n<p>Une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d\u2019observatoires cartographie actuellement l\u2019Univers avec une pr\u00e9cision sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi eux figurent notamment le programme <strong>DESI<\/strong>, le t\u00e9lescope spatial europ\u00e9en <strong>Euclid<\/strong> et l\u2019observatoire <strong>Vera C. Rubin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Leur objectif est notamment de reconstruire tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u2019histoire de l\u2019expansion cosmique et la r\u00e9partition de la mati\u00e8re au cours de plusieurs milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Si l\u2019\u00e9nergie noire est r\u00e9ellement une constante cosmologique, son influence devrait suivre une \u00e9volution tr\u00e8s particuli\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>Mais si elle provient d\u2019un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de gravit\u00e9 quantique, de minuscules diff\u00e9rences pourraient appara\u00eetre dans les donn\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Ces
