L&rsquo;ultime phase de son aventure spatiale est en cours, ouvrant la voie \u00e0 l&rsquo;exploration la plus compl\u00e8te jamais r\u00e9alis\u00e9e de la plan\u00e8te la plus proche du Soleil.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une mission hors normes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lanc\u00e9e le 20 octobre 2018, la mission est le fruit d&rsquo;une collaboration entre (ESA) et .<\/p>\n<p>Contrairement aux autres plan\u00e8tes du Syst\u00e8me solaire, atteindre Mercure repr\u00e9sente un d\u00e9fi consid\u00e9rable. La proximit\u00e9 du Soleil oblige un vaisseau spatial \u00e0 perdre une immense quantit\u00e9 de vitesse pour \u00e9viter d&rsquo;\u00eatre happ\u00e9 par son attraction gravitationnelle. Plut\u00f4t que de foncer directement vers sa cible, BepiColombo a d\u00fb emprunter une trajectoire complexe compos\u00e9e de nombreux survols plan\u00e9taires.<\/p>\n<p>Au total, la sonde aura progressivement sans consommer des quantit\u00e9s astronomiques de carburant, BepiColombo a utilis\u00e9 l&rsquo;assistance gravitationnelle de plusieurs plan\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n<p>Son itin\u00e9raire comprend :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>un survol de la Terre ;<\/li>\n<li>deux survols de V\u00e9nus ;<\/li>\n<li>six survols de Mercure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00c0 chaque passage, la gravit\u00e9 de la plan\u00e8te modifie l\u00e9g\u00e8rement sa trajectoire et r\u00e9duit progressivement sa vitesse.<\/p>\n<p>Cette m\u00e9thode, comparable \u00e0 un freinage cosmique, permet d&rsquo;arriver suffisamment lentement pour \u00eatre captur\u00e9e par la gravit\u00e9 de Mercure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une arriv\u00e9e historique en 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le 21 novembre 2026 : capture gravitationnelle et premi\u00e8re mise en orbite autour de Mercure.<\/p>\n<p>Fin novembre \u00e0 d\u00e9cembre 2026 : s\u00e9paration des deux orbiteurs scientifiques :<\/p>\n<p>le Mercury Planetary Orbiter (MPO) de l&rsquo;ESA, qui \u00e9tudiera la surface, la g\u00e9ologie et l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de la plan\u00e8te ;<\/p>\n<p>Mio (Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter) de la JAXA, consacr\u00e9 au champ magn\u00e9tique, \u00e0 la magn\u00e9tosph\u00e8re et aux interactions avec le vent solaire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9but 2027 : d\u00e9but de la mission scientifique nominale, lorsque les deux orbiteurs auront rejoint leurs orbites d\u00e9finitives.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s de huit ann\u00e9es de voyage, la mission entre d\u00e9sormais dans sa phase d\u00e9cisive.<\/p>\n<p>Ils \u00e9tudieront ensuite la plan\u00e8te durant plusieurs ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Le premier, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par l&rsquo;ESA, observera principalement la surface, la structure interne et la composition g\u00e9ologique.<\/p>\n<p>Le second, con\u00e7u par la JAXA, analysera le champ magn\u00e9tique, la magn\u00e9tosph\u00e8re ainsi que les interactions permanentes entre Mercure et le vent solaire.<\/p>\n<p>Cette double approche permettra d&rsquo;obtenir une vision globale jamais atteinte.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pourquoi Mercure fascine autant les scientifiques ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 premi\u00e8re vue, Mercure ressemble \u00e0 une simple plan\u00e8te rocheuse fortement crat\u00e9ris\u00e9e. Pourtant, elle demeure l&rsquo;un des mondes les plus myst\u00e9rieux du Syst\u00e8me solaire.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs cherchent notamment \u00e0 comprendre :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>pourquoi son immense noyau m\u00e9tallique repr\u00e9sente pr\u00e8s de 85 % de son rayon ;<\/li>\n<li>comment son champ magn\u00e9tique subsiste malgr\u00e9 la petite taille de la plan\u00e8te ;<\/li>\n<li>pourquoi des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts de glace persistent dans certains crat\u00e8res polaires pourtant si proches du Soleil ;<\/li>\n<li>comment son int\u00e9rieur continue d&rsquo;\u00e9voluer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>R\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces questions permettra \u00e9galement de mieux comprendre la formation des plan\u00e8tes rocheuses, y compris la Terre.<\/p>\n<p><img 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Des conditions extr\u00eames<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mercure \u00e9volue \u00e0 seulement 58 millions de kilom\u00e8tres du Soleil.<\/p>\n<p>Les temp\u00e9ratures y oscillent entre -180 \u00b0C durant la nuit et plus de 430 \u00b0C en plein jour, ce qui en fait l&rsquo;un des environnements les plus hostiles du Syst\u00e8me solaire.<\/p>\n<p>La sonde doit donc supporter un rayonnement solaire jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 dix fois plus intense que celui re\u00e7u en orbite terrestre.<\/p>\n<p>Pour r\u00e9sister \u00e0 ces conditions, BepiColombo est \u00e9quip\u00e9e de boucliers thermiques, de panneaux solaires sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7us pour les fortes chaleurs et de syst\u00e8mes \u00e9lectroniques capables de fonctionner malgr\u00e9 ces temp\u00e9ratures champs magn\u00e9tiques plan\u00e9taires et comment \u00e9voluent les mondes soumis \u00e0 un rayonnement intense.<\/p>\n<p>Ces informations pourraient \u00e9galement aider \u00e0 interpr\u00e9ter les nombreuses exoplan\u00e8tes rocheuses d\u00e9couvertes ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, dont plusieurs gravitent tr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s de leur \u00e9toile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une nouvelle \u00e8re pour l&rsquo;exploration de Mercure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s presque une d\u00e9cennie de voyage \u00e0 travers le Syst\u00e8me solaire, BepiColombo s&rsquo;appr\u00eate enfin \u00e0 accomplir sa mission.<\/p>\n<p>Chaque nouvelle image et chaque mesure permettront de lever un peu plus le voile sur une plan\u00e8te encore largement m\u00e9connue.<\/p>\n<p>Dans quelques mois, Mercure ne sera
