C&rsquo;est ce qu&rsquo;a indiqu\u00e9 mardi l&rsquo;Organisation m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique mondiale (OMM). \u00ab\u00a0Les observations effectu\u00e9es \u00e0 partir du sol et par ballon-sonde au-dessus de l&rsquo;Arctique ainsi que par satellite r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que la colonne d&rsquo;ozone a accus\u00e9 une d\u00e9perdition d&rsquo;environ 40% dans cette r\u00e9gion entre le d\u00e9but de l&rsquo;hiver et la fin du mois de mars\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l&rsquo;OMM dans un communiqu\u00e9. Le pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent record \u00e9tait une perte d&rsquo;environ 30% sur tout un hiver, a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 l&rsquo;organisation, dont le si\u00e8ge est \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Deux facteurs sont en cause selon les experts. Tout d&rsquo;abord la temp\u00e9rature particuli\u00e8rement froide dans la stratosph\u00e8re, la seconde couche de l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re. En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques varient beaucoup dans la stratosph\u00e8re arctique d&rsquo;une ann\u00e9e sur l&rsquo;autre. Certains hivers se caract\u00e9risent par une d\u00e9perdition d&rsquo;ozone quasi nulle alors que d&rsquo;autres ann\u00e9es, la persistance de basses temp\u00e9ratures stratosph\u00e9riques apr\u00e8s la fin de la nuit polaire peut entra\u00eener une destruction importante de la couche d&rsquo;ozone. Les temp\u00e9ratures sont toujours plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es que dans l&rsquo;Antarctique. Les substances qui l&rsquo;appauvrissent, telles que les chlorofluorocarbones (CFC) et les halons, utilis\u00e9es nagu\u00e8re dans les r\u00e9frig\u00e9rateurs, les propulseurs d&rsquo;a\u00e9rosols et les extincteurs, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 progressivement interdits et \u00e9limin\u00e9es conform\u00e9ment aux dispositions du Protocole de Montr\u00e9al. Si cet accord n&rsquo;avait pas exist\u00e9, la d\u00e9perdition d&rsquo;ozone cette ann\u00e9e aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s probablement plus importante, selon l&rsquo;OMM qui signale que dans les r\u00e9gions polaires, la baisse de la concentration de ces substances ne repr\u00e9sente encore que 10% de ce qui serait n\u00e9cessaire pour revenir aux valeurs de 1980. Certaines cultures et certaines esp\u00e8ces de la faune marine peuvent aussi en p\u00e2tir. Le trou dans la couche d&rsquo;ozone qui se forme chaque printemps au-dessus de l&rsquo;Antarctique est un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne qui devrait persister jusque vers 2045-2060, tandis qu&rsquo;au-dessus de l&rsquo;Arctique, le retour \u00e0 la normale interviendra probablement dix \u00e0 vingt ans plus t\u00f4t.
