Une roche d\u00e9couverte par le rover Curiosity de la NASA sur Mars contient \u00ab la collection la plus diversifi\u00e9e \u00bb d&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e9ments constitutifs de la vie jamais observ\u00e9e sur la plan\u00e8te rouge, dont sept qui n&rsquo;y avaient jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9s auparavant, confirme une nouvelle \u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<p>En 2020, Curiosity a d\u00e9couvert et for\u00e9 une roche contenant des mol\u00e9cules organiques renfermant du carbone, un \u00e9l\u00e9ment propice \u00e0 la vie. Bien que les scientifiques ne puissent pas encore d\u00e9terminer si ces mol\u00e9cules se sont form\u00e9es par des processus biologiques ou g\u00e9ologiques, leurs d\u00e9couvertes renforcent l&rsquo;hypoth\u00e8se selon laquelle Mars, dans son pass\u00e9, aurait pu abriter la vie.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Leur d\u00e9couverte confirme une fois de plus que Mars, dans son pass\u00e9, poss\u00e9dait la chimie n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la vie \u00bb, ont \u00e9crit les responsables du Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) de la NASA, qui g\u00e8re la mission, au sujet des compos\u00e9s organiques. \u00ab De plus, ces mol\u00e9cules s&rsquo;ajoutent \u00e0 une liste croissante de compos\u00e9s connus pour \u00eatre pr\u00e9serv\u00e9s dans les roches m\u00eame apr\u00e8s des milliards d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es d&rsquo;exposition aux radiations martiennes, qui peuvent d\u00e9composer ces mol\u00e9cules au fil du temps. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Au bord de la mer martienne<br \/>\nLa nouvelle analyse, publi\u00e9e le 21 avril dans la revue Nature Communications , r\u00e9v\u00e8le que l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon de roche contenait 21 mol\u00e9cules carbon\u00e9es, dont sept jamais observ\u00e9es auparavant sur Mars. Il s&rsquo;agissait d&rsquo;hydrocarbures \u00e0 longue cha\u00eene, notamment du d\u00e9cane, de l&rsquo;und\u00e9cane et du dod\u00e9cane.<\/p>\n<p>Ces d\u00e9couvertes organiques, r\u00e9alis\u00e9es en 2020 et 2025, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9es gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un instrument embarqu\u00e9 sur Curiosity, appel\u00e9 SAM (Sample Analysis at Mars). Curiosity commence par forer des roches \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de son bras robotique. Il r\u00e9duit ensuite les roches en poudre et la laisse retomber dans SAM.
