Les dinosaures non aviaires ont disparu des archives fossiles, mais leur disparition a ouvert la voie \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres formes de vie.<\/p>\n<p>Peu de temps apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;impact, les premiers anc\u00eatres des oiseaux actuels sont apparus. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, les scientifiques ont trouv\u00e9 des traces de la catastrophe dans le g\u00e9nome des oiseaux : des changements spectaculaires provoqu\u00e9s par l&rsquo;extinction massive qui ont permis aux oiseaux de se diversifier et de devenir la classe d&rsquo;animaux extr\u00eamement prosp\u00e8re et vari\u00e9e qui remplit notre monde aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0En \u00e9tudiant l&rsquo;ADN d&rsquo;oiseaux vivants, nous pouvons essayer de d\u00e9tecter des mod\u00e8les de s\u00e9quences g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques qui ont chang\u00e9 juste apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;un des \u00e9v\u00e9nements les plus importants de l&rsquo;histoire de la Terre\u00a0\u00bb, explique l&rsquo;ornithologue Jake Berv, de l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 du Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0La signature de ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements semble s&rsquo;\u00eatre imprim\u00e9e dans les g\u00e9nomes des survivants d&rsquo;une mani\u00e8re que nous pouvons d\u00e9tecter des dizaines de millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es plus tard\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;impact d&rsquo;un \u00e9norme ast\u00e9ro\u00efde sur ce qui est aujourd&rsquo;hui la p\u00e9ninsule du Yucat\u00e1n, au Mexique, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9vastateur. Connu aujourd&rsquo;hui sous le nom d&rsquo;extinction du Cr\u00e9tac\u00e9 et du Pal\u00e9og\u00e8ne, il a an\u00e9anti environ 76 % de la vie animale sur Terre.<\/p>\n<p>Cette disparition colossale a laiss\u00e9 un vide qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 rapidement combl\u00e9 par la vie qui a surv\u00e9cu, \u00e9voluant et se diversifiant pour se faire une place dans le nouveau monde. Les dinosaures aviaires ont chang\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on spectaculaire, devenant les quelque 10 000 esp\u00e8ces d&rsquo;oiseaux qui nous entourent aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p>Or, lorsqu&rsquo;un animal change au cours de l&rsquo;\u00e9volution, la composition de l&rsquo;ADN dans son g\u00e9nome peut changer.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9l\u00e9ments fondamentaux de l&rsquo;ADN &#8211; les nucl\u00e9otides &#8211; sont compos\u00e9s de quatre bases diff\u00e9rentes, appel\u00e9es A, C, G et T. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un logiciel r\u00e9cemment mis au point, les chercheurs ont pu assouplir cette hypoth\u00e8se, en op\u00e9rant dans le cadre d&rsquo;un paradigme qui autorise les changements de rapport nucl\u00e9otide-base.<\/p>\n<p>Berv et ses coll\u00e8gues ont utilis\u00e9 ce logiciel pour analyser les diff\u00e9rences entre les g\u00e9nomes de tous les grands groupes d&rsquo;oiseaux. Cela leur a permis d&rsquo;identifier les changements dans la composition du g\u00e9nome depuis l&rsquo;extinction du Cr\u00e9tac\u00e9 et du Permien.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p><strong>Ils ont concentr\u00e9 leurs efforts sur la p\u00e9riode de 5 millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es suivant imm\u00e9diatement l&rsquo;impact de l&rsquo;ast\u00e9ro\u00efde et ont constat\u00e9 que l&rsquo;\u00e9v\u00e9nement d&rsquo;extinction avait entra\u00een\u00e9 plusieurs changements importants dans le g\u00e9nome aviaire en l&rsquo;espace de 3 \u00e0 5 millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ces changements concernent en particulier la taille des oiseaux adultes, leur m\u00e9tabolisme et la fa\u00e7on dont ils se d\u00e9veloppent \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9closion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Par exemple, \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte, les oiseaux sont devenus nettement plus petits que les dinosaures aviaires. Ils sont devenus des b\u00e9b\u00e9s plus petits et plus faibles, n\u00e9s sans plumes et n\u00e9cessitant une p\u00e9riode de protection parentale intense. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, certains oiseaux n&rsquo;ont pas besoin de ces soins, comme les canetons et les poulets, un trait connu sous le nom de pr\u00e9cocialit\u00e9, et il existe des preuves de ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne chez les dinosaures aviaires.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Nous avons d\u00e9couvert que la taille des adultes et les modes de d\u00e9veloppement avant l&rsquo;\u00e9closion sont deux caract\u00e9ristiques importantes de la biologie des oiseaux que nous pouvons relier aux changements g\u00e9n\u00e9tiques que nous d\u00e9tectons\u00a0\u00bb, explique M.
