L\u2019\u00e9tude, publi\u00e9e ce mois-ci dans le Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans , souligne l\u2019importance de l\u2019interaction entre l\u2019oc\u00e9an et l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re pour notre climat.<\/p>\n<p>Balaji Senapati, auteur principal de l&rsquo;\u00e9tude \u00e0 l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Reading, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Cette d\u00e9couverte revient \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir un nouveau changement dans le climat de la Terre. Elle montre qu&rsquo;une zone relativement petite de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an peut avoir des effets de grande envergure sur les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et climatiques mondiales. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab La compr\u00e9hension de ce nouveau syst\u00e8me m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique pourrait grandement am\u00e9liorer les pr\u00e9visions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et climatiques, en particulier dans l\u2019h\u00e9misph\u00e8re sud. Cela pourrait contribuer \u00e0 expliquer des changements climatiques jusqu\u2019alors myst\u00e9rieux et am\u00e9liorer notre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 pr\u00e9voir les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et climatiques extr\u00eames . \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Cach\u00e9 \u00e0 la vue de tous<br \/>\nLes chercheurs ont utilis\u00e9 des mod\u00e8les climatiques sophistiqu\u00e9s pour simuler 300 ans de conditions climatiques. Ce mod\u00e8le combine des composantes atmosph\u00e9riques, oc\u00e9aniques et de glace de mer pour cr\u00e9er une repr\u00e9sentation compl\u00e8te du syst\u00e8me climatique de la Terre. Il cr\u00e9e quatre zones chaudes et froides alternant dans les oc\u00e9ans, formant un cercle complet dans l&rsquo;h\u00e9misph\u00e8re sud. Il commence pr\u00e8s des oc\u00e9ans de Nouvelle-Z\u00e9lande et d&rsquo;Australie. Lorsque la temp\u00e9rature de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an change dans cette petite zone, cela d\u00e9clenche un effet d&rsquo;entra\u00eenement dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re. Cela cr\u00e9e un mod\u00e8le en forme de vague qui se propage dans tout l&rsquo;h\u00e9misph\u00e8re sud, port\u00e9 par de forts vents d&rsquo;ouest.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 mesure que cette onde atmosph\u00e9rique se d\u00e9place, elle affecte les temp\u00e9ratures de l\u2019oc\u00e9an, cr\u00e9ant ainsi quatre zones chaudes et froides.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;oc\u00e9an joue un r\u00f4le important dans ce processus. Lorsque les vagues atmosph\u00e9riques modifient les r\u00e9gimes de vent, elles affectent la fa\u00e7on dont la chaleur se d\u00e9place entre l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an et l&rsquo;air. Cela modifie la profondeur de la couche sup\u00e9rieure d&rsquo;eau chaude de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an, ce qui peut accentuer ou att\u00e9nuer les changements de temp\u00e9rature.<\/p>\n<p>Ce nouveau ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne se produit ind\u00e9pendamment des autres syst\u00e8mes m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques connus dans les tropiques, comme le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de r\u00e9chauffement des courants et des aliz\u00e9s El Ni\u00f1o ou sa phase oppos\u00e9e de refroidissement La Ni\u00f1a.
