Et en analysant l\u2019ADN de quelques sp\u00e9cimens issus de trois mers diff\u00e9rentes, des chercheurs viennent de faire une d\u00e9couverte aussi surprenante qu&rsquo;inqui\u00e9tante. Une grosse t\u00eate. Huit bras tentaculaires. Trois c\u0153urs, neuf cerveaux, mais pas de squelette. La pieuvre est un animal \u00e9tonnant. Et l&rsquo;une d&rsquo;entre elles en particulier, la pieuvre de Turquet &#8212; ou Pareledone turqueti, pour les scientifiques &#8212; nous r\u00e9v\u00e8le aujourd&rsquo;hui une information pour le moins inqui\u00e9tante pour notre avenir.<\/p>\n<p>Quand la glace fond, les pieuvres se rapprochent<br \/>\nDes chercheurs de la James Cook University (Australie) pr\u00e9sentent en effet dans la revue Science, les travaux qu&rsquo;ils ont men\u00e9 sur cette pieuvre qui vit dans la r\u00e9gion antarctique. Ils ont analys\u00e9 l&rsquo;ADN de pieuvres de Turquet trouv\u00e9es dans les mers de Weddell, d&rsquo;Amundsen et de Ross. Ces trois mers sont aujourd&rsquo;hui ind\u00e9pendantes, s\u00e9par\u00e9es par la glace. Mais leur ADN montre que des \u00e9changes de mat\u00e9riel g\u00e9n\u00e9tique ont pu se faire lors de la derni\u00e8re p\u00e9riode interglaciaire. Or, \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, les temp\u00e9ratures qui r\u00e9gnaient sur notre Plan\u00e8te \u00e9taient quelque part entre 0,5 et 1,5 \u00b0C au-dessus de celles que nous connaissons comme les temp\u00e9ratures pr\u00e9industrielles. En d&rsquo;autres mots, le climat de la Terre ressemblait \u00e0 celui que nous vivons aujourd&rsquo;hui.<\/p>\n<p>Effondrement de l\u2019Antarctique et mont\u00e9e du niveau de la mer<br \/>\nAinsi, l&rsquo;Antarctique pourrait \u00eatre plus proche d&rsquo;un point de basculement et d&rsquo;un nouvel effondrement que les chercheurs ne le pensaient jusqu&rsquo;ici. Avec pour cons\u00e9quence d\u00e9sastreuse, une \u00e9l\u00e9vation du niveau de la mer comprise entre 3,5 et 5 m\u00e8tres\u2009!
