Ces d\u00e9p\u00f4ts laissent pr\u00e9sager de nouveaux \u00e9pisodes catastrophiques cycliques.<\/p>\n<p>Des chercheurs am\u00e9ricains ont d\u00e9couvert dans la mer M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e quatre \u00e9normes d\u00e9p\u00f4ts volcaniques form\u00e9s au cours des 40 000 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Ces gisements pointent des \u00e9pisodes catastrophiques cycliques revenant tous les 10 000 \u00e0 15 000 ans pr\u00e8s des c\u00f4tes italiennes, r\u00e9v\u00e8le une \u00e9tude parue le 10 ao\u00fbt 2023 dans la revue <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.geoscienceworld.org\/gsa\/geology\/article\/51\/11\/1001\/627581\/50-000-yr-of-recurrent-volcaniclastic-megabed\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GeoScienceWorld<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Des recherches ant\u00e9rieures avaient d\u00e9voil\u00e9 des formes imposantes cach\u00e9es sous la mer, mais la r\u00e9solution des images ne permettait pas de les caract\u00e9riser. C&rsquo;est pourquoi Derek Sawyer, ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rence, professeur de sciences de la Terre \u00e0 l&rsquo;Ohio State University, et son \u00e9quipe ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de se rendre dans le bassin de Marsili, dans la mer Tyrrh\u00e9nienne, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un volcan sous-marin.<\/p>\n<p>La mer Tyrrh\u00e9nienne constitue une partie de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e occidentale, comprise entre la Corse, la Sardaigne, la Sicile et la p\u00e9ninsule italienne.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois sur site, ils ont captur\u00e9 des images en haute r\u00e9solution des couches de s\u00e9diments et ont d\u00e9couvert une succession de quatre \u00ab\u00a0m\u00e9galithes\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 photographi\u00e9s comme des unit\u00e9s distinctes acoustiquement transparentes avec des g\u00e9om\u00e9tries en bassins, de 10 \u00e0 25 m d&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur, s\u00e9par\u00e9es par des zones parall\u00e8les\u00a0\u00bb, explique l&rsquo;\u00e9tude. Les carottes for\u00e9es ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que ces \u00ab\u00a0m\u00e9galithes\u00a0\u00bb \u00e9taient constitu\u00e9s de mat\u00e9riaux volcaniques vieux de 40 000 ans, 32 000 ans, 18 000 ans et 8 000 ans.<\/p>\n<p>Une s\u00e9rie de super-\u00e9ruptions dans les champs Phl\u00e9gr\u00e9ens<br \/>\nEn comparant ces dates avec l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 g\u00e9ologique du territoire, les chercheurs ont constat\u00e9 qu\u2019elles co\u00efncident avec trois grandes \u00e9ruptions qui ont eu lieu dans les champs Phl\u00e9gr\u00e9ens, une r\u00e9gion volcanique situ\u00e9e dans le golfe de Pouzzoles, au nord-ouest de Naples.<\/p>\n<p>Cette d\u00e9couverte met l&rsquo;accent sur une s\u00e9rie d&rsquo;\u00e9ruptions volcaniques parmi les plus puissantes jamais observ\u00e9es sur Terre \u00e0 ce jour, s\u00e9rie qui se r\u00e9p\u00e9terait tous les 10 000 \u00e0 15 000 ans.
