De r\u00e9centes recherches ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 une importante concentration de ce type de roche dans un endroit inattendu : la face cach\u00e9e de la Lune.<\/p>\n<p>UNE \u00ab SOURCE DE CHALEUR G\u00c9OTHERMIQUE SOUTERRAINE \u00bb D\u00c9TECT\u00c9E SUR LA LUNE<br \/>\nGr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses grandes longueurs d\u2019onde, la radiom\u00e9trie micro-ondes permet aux scientifiques d\u2019obtenir un aper\u00e7u de la temp\u00e9rature du sous-sol \u00e0 des profondeurs comprises entre 0,3 m et 5,6 m. Des chercheurs ont utilis\u00e9 les donn\u00e9es collect\u00e9es par les instruments \u00e0 micro-ondes des sondes chinoises Chang\u2019e 1 et Chang\u2019e 2, compl\u00e9t\u00e9es par celles du Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) de la NASA et de missions plus anciennes pour dresser la cartographie thermique d\u2019une r\u00e9gion de la face cach\u00e9e de la Lune.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9taill\u00e9s dans la revue Nature, ces r\u00e9cents travaux ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019une \u00ab source de chaleur g\u00e9othermique souterraine \u00bb de cinquante kilom\u00e8tres de large entre les crat\u00e8res d\u2019impact Compton et Belkovich.<\/p>\n<p>Selon Matthew Siegler, auteur principal de l\u2019\u00e9tude, la seule explication plausible se r\u00e9sume \u00e0 un grand corps de granite, r\u00e9sultant du refroidissement d\u2019une masse de lave non \u00e9ruptive sous un ancien volcan lunaire d\u2019une vingtaine de kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre, dont l\u2019ultime \u00e9ruption se serait produite il y a plus de 3,5 milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none;
