Souvent appel\u00e9es supervolcans, ces caldeiras et leurs fondations magmatiques associ\u00e9es fournissent des informations pr\u00e9cieuses sur les questions en suspens concernant la nature des syst\u00e8mes magmatiques cristaux, la construction des batholites de la cro\u00fbte sup\u00e9rieure et l&rsquo;\u00e9volution de la cro\u00fbte continentale.<\/p>\n<p>Ils sont \u00e9galement \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine de certains des processus g\u00e9ologiques les plus catastrophiques sur Terre, les super\u00e9ruptions, et en tant que tels, ils sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme l&rsquo;un des volcans les plus dangereux de la plan\u00e8te. La p\u00e9riode de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration apr\u00e8s une super\u00e9ruption, connue sous le nom de r\u00e9surgence, reste l&rsquo;un des ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes volcaniques les plus mal compris, malgr\u00e9 le fait que toutes les grandes caldeiras actives sur Terre aujourd&rsquo;hui comme Yellowstone (USA), Campi Flegrei (Italie)&#8230; Alors que la communaut\u00e9 volcanologique est aux prises avec l&rsquo;\u00e9valuation des risques et la surveillance de l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 actuelle en vue de pr\u00e9voir l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 future et d&rsquo;att\u00e9nuer les risques, une meilleure compr\u00e9hension de l&rsquo;histoire r\u00e9surgente et agit\u00e9e des grandes calderas est donc un imp\u00e9ratif.<\/p>\n<p>Une publication du magazine Communications Earth &amp; Environment de Nature approfondit le fonctionnement des cycles d&rsquo;\u00e9ruption en \u00ab\u00a0supervolcans\u00a0\u00bb. Une fois une #\u00e9ruption volcanique massive termin\u00e9e, le syst\u00e8me sous-jacent peut rester actif pendant des milliers d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>&#x25fc;Les #supervolcans comme la Caldera Toba, Sumatra, produisent les plus grosses \u00e9ruptions sur Terre. Une discordance allant jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 environ 13,6 000 ans a \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9e entre les \u00e2ges du feldspath le plus vieux et du zircon le plus jeune.<\/p>\n<p>Le mod\u00e8le sugg\u00e8re le stockage \u00e0 froid des ant\u00e9cristaux de feldspath avant \u00e9ruption pour une dur\u00e9e maximale d&rsquo;environ 5 \u00e0 13 000 ans entre 280 \u00b0C et 500 \u00b0C. Les auteurs proposent que la carapace solidifi\u00e9e de #magma restante apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;\u00e9ruption de Toba plus jeune est entr\u00e9e en \u00e9ruption dans un \u00e9tat subolide, sans \u00eatre remobilis\u00e9e ou rajeuni thermiquement.
