Par rapport aux autres \u00c9tats du sud-est, il maintient les temp\u00e9ratures en Floride plus chaudes en hiver et plus fra\u00eeches en \u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Comme le Gulf Stream s&rsquo;\u00e9tend \u00e9galement vers l&rsquo;Europe, il contribue \u00e0 r\u00e9chauffer les pays d&rsquo;Europe occidentale, ce qui a un impact majeur sur le climat r\u00e9gional.<\/p>\n<p>Le Gulf Stream lui-m\u00eame peut \u00eatre mieux vu si l&rsquo;on observe les temp\u00e9ratures de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an et la vitesse du courant de surface.<\/p>\n<p>Dans l&rsquo;image ci-dessous, vous pouvez voir la temp\u00e9rature de surface de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an en mars 2022. En revanche, vous pouvez voir le courant froid du Labrador qui descend le long de la c\u00f4te Est du Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Le Gulf Stream est peut-\u00eatre encore plus visible si l&rsquo;on observe le mouvement et la vitesse des courants de surface de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an. Il est en fait tr\u00e8s complexe, avec beaucoup de dynamique et de tourbillons dans l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord. Il comporte de nombreux petits tourbillons d&rsquo;eau, chaude et froide. C&rsquo;est tr\u00e8s similaire au courant-jet atmosph\u00e9rique.<\/p>\n<p>Si l&rsquo;on observe le monde entier, on constate que le Gulf Stream n&rsquo;est pas le seul de son genre. Il existe de nombreuses zones o\u00f9 la circulation oc\u00e9anique est persistante. La vid\u00e9o montre la p\u00e9riode hivernale 2020\/2021, car le Gulf Stream est mieux observ\u00e9 en hiver, lorsqu&rsquo;il pr\u00e9sente le plus grand contraste de temp\u00e9rature.<\/p>\n<p>COURANTS OC\u00c9ANIQUES DE L&rsquo;ATLANTIQUE NORD<\/p>\n<p>Le syst\u00e8me de circulation plus large qui abrite le Gulf Stream est appel\u00e9 la circulation m\u00e9ridienne de retournement de l&rsquo;Atlantique (AMOC). L&rsquo;AMOC est un vaste syst\u00e8me de courants oc\u00e9aniques dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Atlantique, entra\u00een\u00e9 par des diff\u00e9rences de temp\u00e9rature et de teneur en sel, ce qui affecte sa densit\u00e9. Le Gulf Stream n&rsquo;est que la partie superficielle de l&rsquo;AMOC dans l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;image ci-dessous du Met Office britannique montre grossi\u00e8rement l&rsquo;ensemble de la circulation oc\u00e9anique mondiale. Elle porte de nombreux noms diff\u00e9rents, mais on l&rsquo;appelle le plus souvent la Global Conveyor Belt ou la circulation thermohaline. L&rsquo;\u00e9vaporation se produit \u00e9galement en cours de route, ce qui augmente la concentration de sel dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n<p>Une temp\u00e9rature plus basse et une forte teneur en sel rendent l&rsquo;eau plus dense et plus lourde. Cela signifie qu&rsquo;elle va s&rsquo;enfoncer plus profond\u00e9ment dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an. Dans ce film, la circulation oc\u00e9anique de l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord s&rsquo;est compl\u00e8tement arr\u00eat\u00e9e, menant le monde vers une nouvelle \u00e8re glaciaire.<\/p>\n<p>Le film n&rsquo;est pas vraiment exact sur le plan scientifique, car ces changements plan\u00e9taires ne se produisent pas en trois jours seulement. M\u00eame si la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 est quelque peu diff\u00e9rente de celle du film, nous allons examiner l&rsquo;\u00e9tat du Gulf Stream, qui montre que ce courant oc\u00e9anique s&rsquo;affaiblit effectivement.<\/p>\n<p>Pour en venir directement au point principal, nous avons un graphique ci-dessous, qui montre la force de l&rsquo;AMOC au cours des si\u00e8cles pass\u00e9s. Ces donn\u00e9es indirectes concordent avec les observations des instruments modernes. Cela leur donne une bonne confiance pour la partie reconstruction historique.<\/p>\n<p>Le plus souvent, les temp\u00e9ratures oc\u00e9aniques sont utilis\u00e9es pour d\u00e9terminer l&rsquo;\u00e9tat\/la force du Gulf Stream et de l&rsquo;ensemble de la circulation des courants de l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;image ci-dessous montre l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Atlantique Nord divis\u00e9 en deux zones. Sur la c\u00f4te est des \u00c9tats-Unis, nous avons la zone chaude du Gulf Stream. La diff\u00e9rence relative entre ces deux zones est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement utilis\u00e9e comme une estimation de la force de l&rsquo;AMOC.<\/p>\n<p>Nous avons produit un graphique qui montre effectivement la diff\u00e9rence relative entre ces deux zones. Il montre la forte augmentation de la temp\u00e9rature dans cette r\u00e9gion, surtout au cours des 60 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Dans le film \u00ab\u00a0The Day After Tomorrow\u00a0\u00bb, le raisonnement \u00e9tait que la fonte des glaces de l&rsquo;Arctique et du Groenland a introduit beaucoup d&rsquo;eau douce dans l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord, cr\u00e9ant un fort d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre dans le courant oc\u00e9anique.<\/p>\n<p>Comme vous allez le voir, le film a probablement raison sur un point.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00c9S\u00c9QUILIBRE DANS L&rsquo;ATLANTIQUE NORD<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;eau douce r\u00e9duit la salinit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord. Cela rend l&rsquo;eau de surface moins dense (et moins lourde), ce qui l&#8217;emp\u00eache de descendre correctement dans les profondeurs. Comme le courant oc\u00e9anique ne peut pas descendre aussi vite, cela provoque un \u00ab\u00a0embouteillage\u00a0\u00bb, ralentissant tout le courant.<\/p>\n<p>Le graphique ci-dessous montre la salinit\u00e9 de la surface de la mer, mais sur une zone plus \u00e9tendue. On voit bien les eaux sal\u00e9es qui viennent vers l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord avec le Gulf Stream. Mais nous savons avec certitude que l&rsquo;AMOC est en d\u00e9clin.<\/p>\n<p>Et si l&rsquo;on se base sur la quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;eau douce induite par la fonte des glaces, nous verrons probablement des effets climatiques au cours de notre vie. Il est en fait difficile d&rsquo;affirmer que certains ne se produisent pas d\u00e9j\u00e0, mais il est difficile de les filtrer dans un syst\u00e8me chaotique comme le climat mondial.<\/p>\n<p>Mais ce qui peut se produire presque du jour au lendemain, ce sont de fortes temp\u00eates et des ouragans.
