Au cours de ce processus, l&#8217;emplacement g\u00e9ographique des p\u00f4les magn\u00e9tiques nord et sud change en cons\u00e9quence. Mais les g\u00e9ophysiciens soup\u00e7onnent que des oscillations plus rapides et plus traumatisantes se sont produites au cours de l&rsquo;histoire de la plan\u00e8te, notamment \u00e0 la fin de la p\u00e9riode du Cr\u00e9tac\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Pour tester cette id\u00e9e, une \u00e9quipe internationale de scientifiques a pass\u00e9 sept ans \u00e0 enregistrer et \u00e0 analyser des donn\u00e9es provenant d&rsquo;\u00e9chantillons de roches trouv\u00e9s dans le centre de l&rsquo;Italie. Les sections stratigraphiques de Furlo et d&rsquo;Apiro, dans la r\u00e9gion des Marches, sont en grande partie compos\u00e9es de \u00ab\u00a0scaglia rossa\u00a0\u00bb, une roche s\u00e9dimentaire pleine de microfossiles qui simplifie le processus de datation\u00a0\u00bb, explique M. Coccioni.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;h\u00e9matite et le lodestone de ces roches contiennent des aimants naturels microscopiques qui conservent des traces de la position des p\u00f4les magn\u00e9tiques dans le pass\u00e9, m\u00eame apr\u00e8s des millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p>Les scientifiques ont recueilli les donn\u00e9es de deux \u00e9chantillons stratigraphiques parall\u00e8les datant de la m\u00eame \u00e9poque, pr\u00e9lev\u00e9s sur le m\u00eame site et analys\u00e9s avec les m\u00eames m\u00e9thodes, afin de s&rsquo;assurer que les r\u00e9sultats correspondants ne sont pas le fruit du hasard.<\/p>\n<p>Des signes d&rsquo;un ancien d\u00e9placement des p\u00f4les<br \/>\nLes nouvelles donn\u00e9es montrent qu&rsquo;\u00e0 la fin du Cr\u00e9tac\u00e9, il y a environ 84 millions d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es, l&rsquo;axe de rotation de la Terre a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 changer, et l&rsquo;Italie s&rsquo;est d\u00e9plac\u00e9e vers des latitudes plus basses.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Les scientifiques estiment que la variation a atteint environ 12 degr\u00e9s. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, Coccioni et ses coll\u00e8gues ont analys\u00e9 les roches avec des techniques plus pr\u00e9cises qui n&rsquo;existaient pas \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, comme la d\u00e9magn\u00e9tisation thermique, qui supprime les perturbations caus\u00e9es par le champ magn\u00e9tique actuel, et les magn\u00e9tom\u00e8tres supraconducteurs.<\/p>\n<p>Quant aux causes, les scientifiques soup\u00e7onnent que les plaques tectoniques ont d\u00e9riv\u00e9, et qu&rsquo;une r\u00e9partition d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibr\u00e9e du poids \u00e0 la surface de la Terre a forc\u00e9 la plan\u00e8te \u00e0 s&rsquo;incliner. \u00ab\u00a0Mais d&rsquo;autres donn\u00e9es provenant d&rsquo;autres parties du monde sont n\u00e9cessaires pour confirmer qu&rsquo;une v\u00e9ritable d\u00e9rive polaire s&rsquo;est produite\u00a0\u00bb, d\u00e9clare M.
