L&rsquo;ONA d\u00e9crit les variations du r\u00e9gime oc\u00e9an-atmosph\u00e8re sur la r\u00e9gion et se mesure g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement comme la diff\u00e9rence de pression atmosph\u00e9rique entre l&rsquo;anticyclone des A\u00e7ores et la d\u00e9pression d&rsquo;Islande. Elle est notamment corr\u00e9l\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019oscillation arctique.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019ONA a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverte durant les ann\u00e9es 1920 par Sir Gilbert Walker, qui avait d\u00e9couvert pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment l\u2019oscillation australe dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Pacifique et \u00e0 laquelle est reli\u00e9 le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne El Ni\u00f1o. Comme l\u2019oscillation australe, l&rsquo;ONA est un facteur climatique d\u00e9terminant \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle r\u00e9gionale car elle est reli\u00e9e \u00e0 la position et la trajectoire des perturbations m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques qui touchent l&rsquo;Europe de l&rsquo;Ouest ainsi qu&rsquo;aux temp\u00e9ratures oc\u00e9aniques du bassin de l&rsquo;Atlantique nord.<\/p>\n<p>La circulation atmosph\u00e9rique au-dessus de l&rsquo;Atlantique nord montre une alternance rapide de d\u00e9pressions et d&rsquo;anticyclones, conform\u00e9ment aux instabilit\u00e9s de la zone barocline des latitudes moyennes. Cependant, on remarque qu&rsquo;en moyenne on retrouve des d\u00e9pressions dans la r\u00e9gion islandaise et un anticyclone autour des A\u00e7ores. Ces syst\u00e8mes atmosph\u00e9riques semi-permanents sont caus\u00e9s par l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la circulation atmosph\u00e9rique \u00e0 ces latitudes (courant-jet moyen d&rsquo;ouest) et sont en \u00e9quilibre avec la circulation assez stable des courants marins dans cet oc\u00e9an (D\u00e9rive Nord Atlantique, Courant du Labrador et Gulf Stream).<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;indice de l&rsquo;oscillation nord-atlantique est donc calcul\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de la diff\u00e9rence de pression entre Lisbonne (Portugal) et Reykjavik (Islande), en prenant la variation de l&rsquo;\u00e9cart de pression entre ces deux points par rapport \u00e0 la moyenne. Ce calcul s&rsquo;effectue sur les donn\u00e9es de janvier \u00e0 mars dont on fait la moyenne et qu&rsquo;on normalise, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire qu&rsquo;on divise par l&rsquo;\u00e9cart-type de la pression calcul\u00e9 sur une longue p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques pense avoir fait une perc\u00e9e dans les pr\u00e9visions, sugg\u00e9rant que le NAO est en fait hautement pr\u00e9visible.<\/p>\n<p>En particulier, les temp\u00e9ratures hivernales de l&rsquo;Europe sont modul\u00e9es par le mod\u00e8le de pression atmosph\u00e9rique de l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord connu sous le nom d&rsquo;oscillation nord-atlantique (NAO).<\/p>\n<p>Comme son nom l&rsquo;indique, il d\u00e9crit les fluctuations naturelles de la diff\u00e9rence de pression atmosph\u00e9rique au niveau de la mer entre la d\u00e9pression islandaise et la d\u00e9pression des A\u00e7ores. Ces fluctuations contr\u00f4lent la force et la direction des vents d&rsquo;ouest et l&#8217;emplacement des trajectoires des temp\u00eates \u00e0 travers l&rsquo;Atlantique Nord, et donc une grande partie des conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques en Europe. Cela n&rsquo;a rien \u00e0 voir avec le CO2.<\/p>\n<p>Promesse d&rsquo;une plus grande comp\u00e9tence aux pr\u00e9visions saisonni\u00e8res<\/p>\n<p>Avoir la capacit\u00e9 de pr\u00e9voir ces fluctuations des mois \u00e0 l&rsquo;avance serait naturellement un outil tr\u00e8s utile pour l&rsquo;agriculture, le commerce et l&rsquo;organisation en g\u00e9n\u00e9rale.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Aujourd&rsquo;hui, l&rsquo;Allemand <a href=\"https:\/\/kaltesonne.de\/klimaschau-40-durchbruch-in-der-klima-mittelfrist-vorhersage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Die kalte Sonne<\/a> rapporte dans sa 40e vid\u00e9o comment des chercheurs ont fait \u00abune perc\u00e9e\u00bb dans la pr\u00e9vision du NAO.
