La croissance et la diminution du nombre de taches solaires se produisent sur des cycles d&rsquo;environ 11 ans, mais ces cycles n&rsquo;ont pas de d\u00e9but et de fin distincts. Au cours du cycle, ces bandes migrent vers l&rsquo;\u00e9quateur, provoquant l&rsquo;apparition de taches solaires lorsqu&rsquo;elles traversent les latitudes moyennes. Le cycle se termine lorsque les groupes se rencontrent au milieu, s&rsquo;annihilant mutuellement dans ce que l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de recherche appelle un \u00e9v\u00e9nement de terminaison. Cela fournit des rep\u00e8res pr\u00e9cis pour la fin d&rsquo;un cycle et le d\u00e9but du suivant.<\/p>\n<p>Les chercheurs ont mis en parall\u00e8le ces \u00e9v\u00e9nements de terminaison sur les temp\u00e9ratures de surface de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an dans le Pacifique tropical qui remonte \u00e0 1960. Ils ont constat\u00e9 que les cinq \u00e9v\u00e9nements de terminaison qui se sont produits entre cette p\u00e9riode et 2010-11 co\u00efncidaient tous avec un retournement d&rsquo;El Nino plus chaud que la moyenne) \u00e0 La Nina (lorsque les temp\u00e9ratures de surface de la mer sont plus fra\u00eeches que la moyenne). La fin du cycle solaire le plus r\u00e9cent &#8211; qui se d\u00e9roule actuellement &#8211; co\u00efncide \u00e9galement avec le d\u00e9but d&rsquo;un \u00e9v\u00e9nement de La Nina.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0Nous ne sommes pas les premiers scientifiques \u00e0 \u00e9tudier comment la variabilit\u00e9 solaire peut entra\u00eener des changements dans le syst\u00e8me terrestre\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Leamon. \u00ab\u00a0Mais nous sommes les premiers \u00e0 appliquer l&rsquo;horloge solaire de 22 ans. Le r\u00e9sultat &#8211; cinq terminateurs cons\u00e9cutifs sont align\u00e9s avec l&rsquo;oscillation El Ni\u00f1o &#8211; cela n&rsquo;est probablement pas une co\u00efncidence.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En fait, les chercheurs ont effectu\u00e9 un certain nombre d&rsquo;analyses statistiques pour d\u00e9terminer la probabilit\u00e9 que la corr\u00e9lation ne soit qu&rsquo;un coup de chance. Ils ont d\u00e9couvert qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;y avait qu&rsquo;une chance sur 5000 que les cinq \u00e9v\u00e9nements dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tude soit d\u00fb au hasard. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, un sixi\u00e8me \u00e9v\u00e9nement de terminaison et le d\u00e9but d&rsquo;un nouveau cycle solaire en 2020 a \u00e9galement co\u00efncid\u00e9 avec La Nina, la probabilit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une occurrence al\u00e9atoire est encore plus faible, ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 les auteurs.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;article ne se penche pas sur la connexion physique entre le Soleil et la Terre qui pourrait \u00eatre responsable de la corr\u00e9lation, mais les auteurs notent qu&rsquo;il existe plusieurs possibilit\u00e9s qui justifient une \u00e9tude plus approfondie, y compris l&rsquo;influence du champ magn\u00e9tique du Soleil sur la quantit\u00e9 de rayons cosmiques qui touchent la Terre.
