Concernant l&rsquo;a\u00e9rien, l&rsquo;id\u00e9e est de transformer le traditionnel CO2 extrait de l&rsquo;air en carbur\u00e9acteur. L&rsquo;op\u00e9ration a l&rsquo;avantage d&rsquo;\u00eatre neutre en carbone.<\/p>\n<p>Pour mettre au point ce carbur\u00e9acteur, les chercheurs, \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de la m\u00e9thode de combustion organique, ont pr\u00e9par\u00e9 un catalyseur Fe-Mn-K (fer, mangan\u00e8se et potassium) qui permet de convertir le dioxyde de carbone en carbur\u00e9acteur d&rsquo;aviation liquide \u00e0 hauteur de 38,2%. Par ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e9nation, les scientifiques n&rsquo;ont relev\u00e9 qu&rsquo;une faible s\u00e9lectivit\u00e9 en monoxyde de carbone (5,6%) et en m\u00e9thane (10,4%).<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Comme ce dioxyde de carbone est extrait de l&rsquo;air et r\u00e9\u00e9mis des carburateurs lorsqu&rsquo;il est br\u00fbl\u00e9 en vol, l&rsquo;effet global est un carburant neutre en carbone \u00bb, expliquent les chercheurs, conscients du fait que l&rsquo;utilisation de combustibles fossiles continue de cro\u00eetre, \u00e0 un rythme pr\u00e9dit de 1,3% jusqu&rsquo;en 2030.<\/p>\n<p>Ici, la m\u00e9thode tranche radicalement avec les carburants \u00e0 r\u00e9action, qui sont produits \u00e0 partir de sources fossiles d&rsquo;hydrocarbures, o\u00f9 la combustion vient lib\u00e9rer le carbone fossile directement dans l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re, sous forme de dioxyde de carbone.<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Cette exp\u00e9rience inverse le processus pour transformer ce dioxyde de carbone en carburant, en utilisant la m\u00e9thode de combustion organique. Concr\u00e8tement, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a chauff\u00e9 un m\u00e9lange d\u2019acide citrique, d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et d\u2019un catalyseur fer-mangan\u00e8se- potassium pour transformer le CO2 en carburant capable d\u2019alimenter des avions \u00e0 r\u00e9action. En plus d\u2019\u00eatre assez simple \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser, cette proc\u00e9dure se r\u00e9v\u00e8le bien moins ch\u00e8re que le processus utilis\u00e9 pour transformer l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et l\u2019eau en carburant.<\/p>\n<p>Il reste \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe de nombreux d\u00e9fis \u00e0 relever puisqu\u2019ils n\u2019ont pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 produire que quelques grammes de carburant. Les chercheurs expliquent cependant \u00eatre en discussion avec des acteurs industriels du secteur et sont confiants sur l\u2019avenir de ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9. Comme le note Engadget, il dispose d\u2019un avantage non n\u00e9gligeable, il permet aux acteurs du secteur de conserver leurs engins avant d\u2019op\u00e9rer un v\u00e9ritable tournant \u00e9cologique. Si lors de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience le dioxyde de carbone provenait d\u2019une cartouche, l\u2019\u00e9quipe imagine qu\u2019\u00e0 terme, il sera possible de capter de grandes quantit\u00e9s de gaz directement dans l\u2019air, ce qui permettra aussi de les \u00e9liminer de notre environnement.
