Des r\u00e9sultats prometteurs, m\u00eame si du chemin reste \u00e0 parcourir. Les d\u00e9tails de l\u2019\u00e9tude sont publi\u00e9s dans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/cancer-cell\/fulltext\/S1535-6108(18)30573-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">la revue Cancer Cell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque les cellules canc\u00e9reuses produisent ce que l\u2019on appelle une m\u00e9tastase, ces derni\u00e8res subissent des modifications leur permettant de se \u201clib\u00e9rer\u201d de la tumeur pour ensuite migrer vers d\u2019autres organes. En se transformant, les cellules entrent alors dans un \u00e9tat plus \u201cimmature\u201d, plus mall\u00e9able. Ce changement est appel\u00e9 transition \u00e9pith\u00e9lio-m\u00e9senchymateuse (EMT). Pendant cet intervalle, il est alors en th\u00e9orie possible d\u2019influencer en quelque sorte le futur de ces cellules. C\u2019est un peu comme avec les cellules souches, \u00e0 partir desquelles vous pouvez cr\u00e9er n\u2019importe quelle autre cellule. Pour ce faire, les chercheurs ont d\u2019abord transplant\u00e9 des cellules humaines sujettes aux m\u00e9tastases (cancer du sein) dans les tissus adipeux mammaires de souris femelles. Les rongeurs ont ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 trait\u00e9s avec deux m\u00e9dicaments d\u00e9j\u00e0 approuv\u00e9s par la FDA am\u00e9ricaine. L\u2019un d\u2019eux est la rosiglitazone, utilis\u00e9e pour traiter le diab\u00e8te de type 2, et l\u2019autre le trametinib, un m\u00e9dicament connu pour aider \u00e0 inhiber la croissance et la propagation des cellules canc\u00e9reuses.<\/p>\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la combinaison de ces deux m\u00e9dicaments, les chercheurs se sont alors aper\u00e7us que les cellules canc\u00e9reuses qui s\u2019\u00e9taient extraites de la tumeur initiale se transformaient en cellules adipeuses. En d\u2019autres termes, les chercheurs avaient r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 stopper la propagation du cancer chez les souris concern\u00e9es. Reste \u00e0 savoir si ces r\u00e9sultats pourraient \u00eatre applicables aux femmes ou \u00e0 d\u2019autres types de cancers, mais les chercheurs comptent bien se pencher bient\u00f4t sur la question.
