Alors qu&rsquo;il a fallu 18 ans, de 1995 \u00e0 2013, pour d\u00e9couvrir 1000 plan\u00e8tes extrasolaires, quelques mois ont suffi pour faire passer l&rsquo;effectif \u00e0 1792 (il \u00e9tait de 1077 au 25 f\u00e9vrier 2014).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Plus petites que Neptune<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00ab 94% de ces plan\u00e8tes sont plus petites que Neptune \u00bb, pr\u00e9cise le jeune chercheur. Mais dans la nouvelle moisson, point de jumelle de la Terre. La plupart de ces plan\u00e8tes sont tr\u00e8s proches de leur \u00e9toile. Seules quatre d&rsquo;entre elles (Kepler-174d, Kepler-296f, Kepler-298 d et Kepler-309 c) re\u00e7oivent moins de 1,5 fois le flux lumineux re\u00e7u par notre plan\u00e8te.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00ab Elles sont dans la zone habitable de leur \u00e9toile, mais elles sont respectivement 2,2, 1,8, 2,5 et 2,5 fois plus grandes que la Terre. \u00bb Selon les mod\u00e8les de composition interne les plus r\u00e9cents, il s&rsquo;agirait donc de mini-plan\u00e8tes gazeuses.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00ab Nous sommes s\u00fbrs de nos plan\u00e8tes \u00e0 99 % \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Kepler d\u00e9tecte une plan\u00e8te extrasolaire en enregistrant la faible baisse de luminosit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9toile devant laquelle elle passe. Nous allons d\u00e9sormais entamer l&rsquo;analyse sur les deux ann\u00e9es suivantes, ce qui nous permettra de d\u00e9tecter des plan\u00e8tes aux p\u00e9riodes plus longues. Nous en trouverons moins, car plus une plan\u00e8te est lointaine, plus la probabilit\u00e9 de la voir transiter devant son \u00e9toile est faible. \u00bb<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Peu de chance qu&rsquo;une s\u0153ur de la Terre se trouve dans cette nouvelle moisson. \u00ab Kepler a cess\u00e9 de fonctionner au bout de quatre ans, et pour valider une exoterre naviguant en un an autour d&rsquo;une \u00e9toile de type solaire, il nous faudrait deux ann\u00e9es suppl\u00e9mentaires \u00bb, admet Geoffrey Marcy, de l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 de Berkeley et membre de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Plus optimiste, Jason Rowe estime qu&rsquo;il est \u00ab trop t\u00f4t pour tirer cette conclusion.
