Une d\u00e9couverte qui suit de seulement quelques mois la mise au jour d\u2019un autre crat\u00e8re groenlandais.<\/p>\n<p>Des mondes perdus se tapissent d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment sous la glace. Apr\u00e8s la d\u00e9couverteet l\u2019exploration d\u2019un lac gel\u00e9 sous la calotte de l\u2019Antarctique, voici qu\u2019une structure au moins aussi extraordinaire vient d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9cel\u00e9e au Groenland : un immense crat\u00e8re, dissimul\u00e9 sous deux kilom\u00e8tres d\u2019eau gel\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>On doit cette d\u00e9couverte \u00e0 la NASA. C\u2019est en effet une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques du Goddard Space Flight Center qui est \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la d\u00e9tection du crat\u00e8re groenlandais. Le deuxi\u00e8me du genre sur la \u00ab\u00a0Terre Verte\u00a0\u00bb, quelques mois seulement apr\u00e8s la d\u00e9couverte d\u2019un crat\u00e8re de 31 kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre ; lui-aussi imprim\u00e9 sur le sol du Groenland \u00e0 des centaines de m\u00e8tres sous la glace. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des images satellites et \u00e0 des donn\u00e9es radar, l\u2019\u00e9quipe du Goddard Space Flight Center a cette fois rep\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 travers la glace, un motif circulaire d\u2019environ 36 kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre. Une d\u00e9pression arrondie situ\u00e9e \u00e0 moins de 185 kilom\u00e8tres du crat\u00e8re d\u00e9couvert quelques mois plus t\u00f4t, en novembre. Mais les zones d\u2019activit\u00e9 sismique connue au Groenland sont [situ\u00e9es] \u00e0 plusieurs centaines de kilom\u00e8tres de l\u00e0. De plus, un volcan devrait avoir une anomalie magn\u00e9tique positive tr\u00e8s nette, et nous n\u2019observons pas cela du tout.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2AFq2rti3-4?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=fr-FR&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Un \u00e2ge incertain<\/p>\n<p>Recouvert d\u2019une masse de glace dont les plus anciennes strates n\u2019ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9branl\u00e9es depuis au moins 79.000 ans, le crat\u00e8re daterait donc a minima de la m\u00eame \u00e9poque.
