VG18, ou \u00ab Farout \u00bb (\u00ab longue distance \u00bb), vient d\u2019\u00eatre d\u00e9couverte par une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques en partenariat avec l\u2019universit\u00e9 am\u00e9ricaine Carnegie utilisant un t\u00e9lescope super puissant sur l\u2019\u00eele de Hawa\u00ef. Selon les calculs de l\u2019\u00e9quipe scientifique, dont les travaux se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9s sous la houlette de Scott Sheppard, du Carnegie Institute for Science, cette plan\u00e8te naine se situerait \u00e0 120 UA (Unit\u00e9 Astronomique) du Soleil. Selon les observations r\u00e9alis\u00e9es par l\u2019\u00e9quipe internationale au t\u00e9lescope, sa taille serait d\u2019environ 500 kilom\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre. Dans un article publi\u00e9 sur le site de son universit\u00e9, le responsable des recherche indique que \u00ab c\u2019est la premi\u00e8re fois que nous pouvons observer un objet dans notre syst\u00e8me solaire situ\u00e9 \u00e0 plus de 100 UA \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La d\u00e9couverte pourrait aussi faire avancer la recherche de la fameuse plan\u00e8te \u00ab fant\u00f4me \u00bb \u00ab Planet X \u00bb, qui intrigue les scientifiques depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es. La th\u00e9orie voudrait qu\u2019une plan\u00e8te, encore non d\u00e9couverte, de taille bien plus importante que celle de la Terre se trouve aux confins du syst\u00e8me solaire.
