La d\u00e9couverte d&rsquo;eau sur certaines de ces plan\u00e8tes pourrait bouleverser la recherche de vie extraterrestre.<\/p>\n<p>La nouvelle que les exobiologistes attendaient tous vient de tomber : il y aurait bien de l\u2019eau sur certaines plan\u00e8tes de Trappist-1. Le syst\u00e8me plan\u00e9taire, compos\u00e9 d\u2019une petite \u00e9toile (naine froide) et d\u2019au moins 7 plan\u00e8tes, serait propice \u00e0 abriter la vie, trois de ces plan\u00e8tes se situant dans la zone d\u2019habitabilit\u00e9 (lire notre article sur la zone d&rsquo;habitabilit\u00e9 de Trappist-1).<\/p>\n<p>Cette d\u00e9couverte majeure, r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9e par la revue Nature le 5 f\u00e9vrier 2018, est le fruit du travail d\u2019une \u00e9quipe internationale impliquant des chercheurs fran\u00e7ais du Laboratoire d\u2019astrophysique de Bordeaux.<\/p>\n<p>UNE HISTOIRE D&rsquo;ATMOSPH\u00c8RE&#8230;<br \/>\nComment conna\u00eetre la composition de l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re de plan\u00e8tes situ\u00e9es \u00e0 des ann\u00e9es lumi\u00e8res de la Terre ? Lorsqu\u2019une plan\u00e8te passe devant son \u00e9toile, on peut d\u00e9tecter l\u2019absorption des rayons lumineux par son atmosph\u00e8re avec un spectrographe. Ce qui permet d\u2019avoir une id\u00e9e de sa composition.<\/p>\n<p>Ces donn\u00e9es sont recueillies par de tr\u00e8s gros t\u00e9lescopes comme Hubble. Dans le cadre de cette \u00e9tude, le t\u00e9lescope a permis de quantifier la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, puissant gaz \u00e0 effet de serre dont la teneur peut \u00eatre incompatible avec la vie, dans l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re de quatre plan\u00e8tes situ\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, ou tout pr\u00e8s, de la zone d\u2019habitabilit\u00e9 de Trappist-1.<\/p>\n<p>Les analyses des donn\u00e9es recueillies par Hubble montrent que leurs atmosph\u00e8res sont pauvres en hydrog\u00e8ne, et que par cons\u00e9quent ces plan\u00e8tes sont potentiellement candidates \u00e0 accueillir la vie !<\/p><div class=\"1665f18d14f35dd9e7566e1a8ac9a3e9\" data-index=\"2\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-2860849627502538\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3019501113\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>&#8230; ET DE DENSIT\u00c9<br \/>\nAutre donn\u00e9e sur la piste de l\u2019eau : la densit\u00e9 des plan\u00e8tes de Trappist-1.<\/p>\n<p>La proximit\u00e9 des plan\u00e8tes entre elles est telle que l&rsquo;attraction gravitationnelle perturbe la r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 des orbites, en provoquant des retards et des avances. Or, ce manque de ponctualit\u00e9 d\u00e9pend de la masse des plan\u00e8tes (lire aussi Trappist-1 : la vie pourrait circuler d&rsquo;une plan\u00e8te \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre).<\/p>\n<p>Des mesures de cette irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9, par divers satellites de l\u2019Observatoire europ\u00e9en austral et de la NASA ont permis de calculer la masse des plan\u00e8tes de Trappist-1 avec une pr\u00e9cision de 5 \u00e0 10%. Elles s&rsquo;av\u00e8rent \u00eatre rocheuses et moins denses que la Terre. Selon les chercheurs, cet \u00e9cart de densit\u00e9 s\u2019explique par une teneur en eau et en compos\u00e9s volatiles, \u00e0 l&rsquo;exception de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, bien sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de notre plan\u00e8te.
