Mais selon cette nouvelle \u00e9tude, la plan\u00e8te rouge poss\u00e9derait dans son sous-sol particuli\u00e8rement riche en oxyg\u00e8ne tous les ingr\u00e9dients n\u00e9cessaires au d\u00e9veloppement de formes de vie extraterrestres simples.<\/p>\n<p>Publi\u00e9e il y a quelques jours dans la revue scientifique Nature, cette \u00e9tude men\u00e9e par une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques du Jet Propulsion Laboratory sugg\u00e8re que les niveaux d\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne dans le sol martien seraient suffisants pour soutenir la vie en s\u2019appuyant sur deux d\u00e9couvertes r\u00e9centes : la d\u00e9couverte de roches fortement oxyd\u00e9es sur Mars par le rover Curiosity, et la pr\u00e9sence de sources d\u2019eau saum\u00e2tre dans son sous-sol. Il est \u00e9galement important de souligner que la NASA \u00e9vite pour l\u2019instant scrupuleusement les zones de Mars pouvant abriter de l\u2019eau, de peur de contaminer les formes de vie pouvant s\u2019y trouver avec des bact\u00e9ries terrestres r\u00e9sistantes. Reste que le P\u00f4le sud de Mars, qui abriterait plusieurs lacs souterrains, serait le candidat le plus cr\u00e9dible au maintien de formes de vie souterraines selon les chercheurs.<\/p>\n<p>Toujours selon les auteurs de l\u2019\u00e9tude : \u00ab L\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne a bien plus d\u2019importance pour Mars que nous ne l\u2019imaginions. En se d\u00e9composant, il offrirait les ingr\u00e9dients n\u00e9cessaires au d\u00e9veloppement et \u00e0 la subsistance de n\u2019importe quel microbe.
