De quoi relancer la conqu\u00eate de l\u2019espace et, peut \u00eatre, sa colonisation.<\/p>\n<p>5 PLAN\u00c8TES CONTIENDRAIENT BEAUCOUP D\u2019EAU<br \/>\nC\u2019est en 2015 qu\u2019une \u00e9toile naine rouge, situ\u00e9e \u00e0 seulement 40 ann\u00e9es lumi\u00e8res de la Terre, a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverte par le t\u00e9lescope belge TRAPPIST. Autour d\u2019elle gravitent pas moins de 7 plan\u00e8tes rocheuses, dont la masse est comparable \u00e0 la Terre. Devant cette similarit\u00e9 \u00e9vidente, les chercheurs ont men\u00e9 toutes sortes d\u2019\u00e9tudes et d\u2019observations, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 arriver \u00e0 l\u2019estimation suivante : ces sept nouveaux mondes pourraient bien \u00eatre riches en eau.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Nous en savons maintenant plus sur Trappist-1 que sur tout autre syst\u00e8me plan\u00e9taire en dehors de notre propre syst\u00e8me \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Sean Carey, directeur du Spitzer Science Center de Caltech. Martin Turber, chercheur au Laboratoire de M\u00e9t\u00e9orologie Dynamique et \u00e0 l\u2019origine d\u2019une \u00e9tude publi\u00e9e sur le site de l\u2019Observatoire Europ\u00e9en Austral (ESO), indique quant \u00e0 lui : \u00ab Nous disposons d\u00e9sormais de suffisamment de donn\u00e9es sur 5 des 7 plan\u00e8tes pour pouvoir affirmer que leur composition doit contenir de l\u2019eau en quantit\u00e9 importante \u00bb. Et ce, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 5 % de leur masse ! Une \u00e9quipe d\u2019une vingtaine de chercheurs internationaux qui ont observ\u00e9 le syst\u00e8me depuis de nombreux t\u00e9lescopes terrestres et spatiaux (dont Kepler, Hubble et Spitzer).<\/p>\n<p>Selon les scientifiques, la fine atmosph\u00e8re des plan\u00e8tes les plus proches (Trappist b et c) pourrait contenir de la vapeur d\u2019eau. Les plan\u00e8tes d, e, f et g, quant \u00e0 elles, sont susceptibles d\u2019accueillir de l\u2019eau liquide. Une tr\u00e8s bonne nouvelle pour le d\u00e9veloppement de la vie sur ces plan\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi ces 4 derni\u00e8res plan\u00e8tes, les chercheurs pensaient que trois d\u2019entre elles pr\u00e9sentaient une atmosph\u00e8re riche en hydrog\u00e8ne : hypoth\u00e8se r\u00e9fut\u00e9e par le t\u00e9lescope Hubble et Julien de Wit, l\u2019un des auteurs principaux de l\u2019\u00e9tude, qui affirme \u00ab rassembl\u00e9s, les r\u00e9sultats de nos recherches confirment la nature terrestre et l\u2019habitabilit\u00e9 potentielle des plan\u00e8tes du syst\u00e8me \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La plan\u00e8te h, la plus \u00e9loign\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9toile naine, pourrait \u00eatre recouverte d\u2019une couche de glace. Enfin, les plan\u00e8tes d et e sont plus myst\u00e9rieuses pour les scientifiques : si la premi\u00e8re semble la moins massive de toutes (seulement 30 % de la masse de la Terre), personne ne sait encore ce qu\u2019elle pourrait abriter. Glace, oc\u00e9an, lourde atmosph\u00e8re ? Des questions auxquelles la communaut\u00e9 scientifique devra r\u00e9pondre. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, la plan\u00e8te e est celle qui ressemble le plus \u00e0 la Terre.
