D\u00e9tect\u00e9 totalement par hasard en 1964 par Arno Penzias et Robert Wilson (des Bell Labs), et plus commun\u00e9ment appel\u00e9 \u00ab fond diffus cosmologique \u00bb par les scientifiques, le rayonnement fossile est le plus ancien qui ait \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9mis dans l&rsquo;univers. Avec toutefois d&rsquo;infimes variations, de l&rsquo;ordre du cent-millioni\u00e8me de degr\u00e9, autour de cette valeur moyenne. Ce sont ces variations qu&rsquo;a mesur\u00e9es Planck avec une pr\u00e9cision stup\u00e9fiante, de l&rsquo;ordre du dix-millioni\u00e8me de degr\u00e9.
