En mars 2016, une publication exploitant des images du t\u00e9lescope spatial Chandra avait mis en \u00e9vidence des aurores bor\u00e9ales cent fois plus puissantes que celles que l&rsquo;on peut observer sur Terre, et aussi bien plus \u00e9tendues. La superficie de ces ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes est plus vaste que la surface de notre monde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mais ce nouveau clich\u00e9 est riche d&rsquo;une nouvelle opportunit\u00e9 : la mise en orbite de la sonde spatiale Juno lundi 4 juillet 2016 dans la nuit, autour de la g\u00e9ante gazeuse. De ce fait, \u00ab\u00a0pendant que Hubble effectue ses observations et mesure les aurores sur Jupiter, la sonde Juno \u00e9tudie sur place les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s des vents solaires. En effet, celui qui entoure Jupiter est 20.000 fois plus puissant que celui qui prot\u00e8ge notre Terre. L&rsquo;apparition de cette aurore bor\u00e9ale juste au moment de l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e de la sonde, \u00ab\u00a0c&rsquo;est comme si Jupiter tirait un feu d&rsquo;artifice pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e de la sonde Juno\u00a0\u00bb s&rsquo;enthousiasme Jonathan Nichols, chercheur \u00e0 l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Leicester, impliqu\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;\u00e9tude de ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bien qu&rsquo;\u00e2g\u00e9 de plus de 25 ans (soit une d\u00e9cennie de plus qu&rsquo;initialement pr\u00e9vu), le T\u00e9lescope spatial Hubble a vu, le 23 juin 2016, sa mission \u00eatre prolong\u00e9e de 5 ans.
