Depuis 1995 et la d\u00e9couverte de la premi\u00e8re exoplan\u00e8te, Pegasi 51 b, les astronomes ont acquis la certitude que les \u00e9toiles dot\u00e9es d\u2019un syst\u00e8me plan\u00e9taire \u00e9taient loin d\u2019\u00eatre une exception dans notre galaxie, la Voie lact\u00e9e. En fait, c\u2019est plut\u00f4t la norme. C\u2019est ce qu\u2019il ressort de la derni\u00e8re campagne d\u2019observation men\u00e9e avec le t\u00e9lescope spatial Kepler dont les r\u00e9sultats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s par une \u00e9quipe du California Institute of Technology. \u00ab Il y a au moins 100 milliards de plan\u00e8tes, uniquement dans notre galaxie, estime John Johnson du Caltech. C&rsquo;est ahurissant. \u00bb Fondamentalement, il y aurait une plan\u00e8te par \u00e9toile pr\u00e9cise m\u00eame un autre chercheur.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Parmi toutes ces plan\u00e8tes, les astronomes prospectent celles qui sont semblables \u00e0 la Terre, en taille et en masse notamment. Lanc\u00e9 en 2009, ce dernier est capable de rechercher des plan\u00e8tes hors de notre syst\u00e8me solaire ou exoplan\u00e8tes. Pour d\u00e9tecter ces derni\u00e8res, Kepler a besoin qu\u2019elles passent devant leur \u00e9toile et entra\u00eenent ensuite une baisse de luminosit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019endroit m\u00eame o\u00f9 elles transitent. Les donn\u00e9es collect\u00e9es par ce t\u00e9lescope correspondent ainsi aux mesures que ce dernier effectue sans cesse sur les changements de luminosit\u00e9 de plus de 150.000 \u00e9toiles situ\u00e9es dans les constellations du Cygne et de la Lyre.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Des plan\u00e8tes habit\u00e9es ?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Principal auteur de ces recherches, Fran\u00e7ois Fression, du Centre d\u2019Astrophysique de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Harvard a estim\u00e9 qu\u2019au moins une \u00e9toile sur six dans la Voie lact\u00e9e a une plan\u00e8te de taille terrestre en orbite autour d\u2019elle.
