En effet, les s\u00e9ismes sont provoqu\u00e9s par des m\u00e9canismes trop complexes, pour qu\u2019on puisse en tirer des conclusions. Selon les chercheurs, cela pourrait \u00e9ventuellement s\u2019expliquer par des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques particuli\u00e8res de ces r\u00e9gions tectoniques. Elles seraient capables d&rsquo;accumuler de fortes tensions sur une longue p\u00e9riode avant de les lib\u00e9rer, provoquant un tremblement de terre d&rsquo;autant plus puissant que le cycle est long.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u00ab\u00a0M\u00eame si nous ne comprenons pas pleinement la physique des cycles sismiques longs, toute am\u00e9lioration apport\u00e9e par l&rsquo;analyse des donn\u00e9es statistiques doit \u00eatre prise en compte, car elle peut contribuer \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts et les pertes humaines\u00a0\u00bb, estime M.
