Une avanc\u00e9e importante qui pourrait s\u2019av\u00e9rer d\u00e9cisive dans la course \u00e0 la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique o\u00f9 le photovolta\u00efque ne cesse de gagner du terrain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les cellules photovolta\u00efques organiques \u00e9tudi\u00e9es aujourd\u2019hui, en d\u00e9pit de leurs avantages notoires, sont entach\u00e9es d\u2019une limite contraignante : un faible rendement qui les rend difficilement comp\u00e9titives avec leurs grandes s\u0153urs artificielles. Un probl\u00e8me qui pourrait bient\u00f4t \u00eatre r\u00e9gl\u00e9 au regard des derni\u00e8res avanc\u00e9es observ\u00e9es par l\u2019Institut de Technologie d\u2019Isra\u00ebl Technion. \u00ab Nous avons d\u00e9couvert que l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 des cellules photovolta\u00efques organiques et leur production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 sont limit\u00e9es par leur aspect structurel \u00bb explique le professeur Nir Tessler, directeur de cette recherche. L\u2019\u00e9quipe a ainsi d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que certaines limites d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 n\u2019\u00e9taient pas li\u00e9es \u00e0 la nature m\u00eame du mat\u00e9riau, offrant une nouvelle marge de man\u0153uvre pour atteindre de plus hauts rendements en s\u2019attaquant \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re dont les cellules sont agenc\u00e9es.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sur base de leur d\u00e9couverte, les chercheurs ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des tests sur leurs cellules organiques afin d\u2019atteindre un niveau d\u2019efficacit\u00e9 suffisant pour une \u00e9ventuelle industrialisation du proc\u00e9d\u00e9. \u00ab Nous avons am\u00e9lior\u00e9 l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de conversion de l\u2019\u00e9nergie solaire en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur des cellules de 10 \u00e0 15% \u00bb explique Nir Tessler, soit une augmentation de 50% d\u2019efficacit\u00e9. De quoi atteindre cette limite de rendement au dessus de laquelle les experts estiment que les cellules organiques pourraient faire leur apparition sur le march\u00e9. L\u2019avantage de leur technique, c\u2019est qu\u2019elle ne n\u00e9cessite pas de nouveaux mat\u00e9riaux plus performants (ici, d\u2019origine organique). Elle s\u2019attarde simplement \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re dont les cellules sont ins\u00e9r\u00e9es dans la structure, notamment la position des \u00e9lectrodes. Les chercheurs admettent qu\u2019il reste cependant encore beaucoup de travail \u00e0 leur \u00e9quipe pour atteindre un prototype viable.
