Cette d\u00e9couverte a \u00e9t\u00e9 faite parall\u00e8lement et ind\u00e9pendamment l&rsquo;un\u0435 de l&rsquo;autre par deux groupes de scientifiques. Il s&rsquo;agit notamment d&rsquo;un groupe d&rsquo;astronomes du California Institute of Technology (Caltech), dirig\u00e9 par Dariusz Lis et d&rsquo;une \u00e9quipe de chercheurs du Laboratoire Jet Propulsion de la NASA, dirig\u00e9e par Matt Bradford, de ce m\u00eame Caltech.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selon les scientifiques, le quasar APM 08279+5255, envelopp\u00e9 de vapeur d&rsquo;eau, est situ\u00e9 \u00e0 12 milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re (une ann\u00e9e-lumi\u00e8re est \u00e9gale \u00e0 9.460.730.472.580,8 km) de la Terre. Aliment\u00e9 par un \u00e9norme trou noir, ce quasar crache d\u2019\u00e9normes quantit\u00e9s d\u2019\u00e9nergie et est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme \u00e9tant la plus puissante source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie de l&rsquo;Univers \u00e0 ce jour. Les savants ont calcul\u00e9 que la masse de ce trou noir d\u00e9passe de 20 milliards de fois celle du Soleil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En d\u00e9couvrant le plus grand r\u00e9servoir d\u2019eau et le plus \u00e9loign\u00e9 jamais d\u00e9tect\u00e9 dans l\u2019Univers, les astronomes en sont venus \u00e0 la conclusion que l\u2019eau y est omnipr\u00e9sente. Il s&rsquo;agit en l&rsquo;occurrence d&rsquo;une masse de vapeur d\u2019eau qui \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 140 milliards de fois celle de tous les oc\u00e9ans de la plan\u00e8te Terre r\u00e9unis.
