Il assurera la continuit\u00e9 des donn\u00e9es sur la hauteur des oc\u00e9ans depuis une orbite situ\u00e9e \u00e0 1336 km d&rsquo;altitude. Lancement le 17 janvier 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fruit d&rsquo;une \u00e9troite collaboration entre le CNES et la Nasa, il a d\u00e9coll\u00e9\u00a0d&rsquo;une bas\u00e9e militaire de Californie sur un lanceur Falcon 9. Et comme ses pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseurs Jason 1 et Jason 2, il aura pour t\u00e2che de surveiller le niveau des mers et des oc\u00e9ans. Pour les techniciens Toulousains du CNES qui surveilleront les op\u00e9rations, c&rsquo;est un nouveau d\u00e9fi. Ce sont eux qui dirigeront les op\u00e9rations de d\u00e9ploiement et la collecte des donn\u00e9es. Un r\u00f4le crucial quand on sait la finesse d&rsquo;analyse permise par ses outils. Le programme de surveillance d\u00e9but\u00e9 avec Poseidon en 1992, suivi de Jason-1 en 2001 et Jason-2 en 2008 ont permis de montrer avec certitude que le niveau des oc\u00e9ans augmentait chaque ann\u00e9e de 3 mm en moyenne. Jason 3 , c&rsquo;est 20 ans d&rsquo;histoire d&rsquo;oc\u00e9anographie spatiale et de l&rsquo;altim\u00e9trie. En plein p\u00e9riode post-COP 21, l&rsquo;importance de Jason 3 est donc majeure.
