Ces manifestations cons\u00e9quentes \u00e0 l&rsquo;explosion d&rsquo;une \u00e9toile en fin de vie se caract\u00e9risent en effet par une augmentation consid\u00e9rable de leur \u00e9clat.<br \/>\nToutefois, il existe parmi cette cat\u00e9gorie des disparit\u00e9s. Certaines supernovas sont plus brillantes que d&rsquo;autres et ASASSN-15lh, d\u00e9couverte le 14 juin 2015, est en ce sens un v\u00e9ritable record. Sa description a fait l&rsquo;objet d&rsquo;une \u00e9tude r\u00e9cemment publi\u00e9e dans la revue Science.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">570 fois plus lumineuse que le Soleil<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Selon ses auteurs, la luminosit\u00e9 d&rsquo;ASASSN-15lh serait, \u00e0 son pic d&rsquo;activit\u00e9, 200 fois plus intense que celle d&rsquo;une supernova du m\u00eame type. Dans un effort de remise en contexte, les chercheurs ont calcul\u00e9 une brillance 570 fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e que celle de notre Soleil et environ 20 fois plus intense que celle de l&rsquo;ensemble des milliards d&rsquo;\u00e9toiles formant notre galaxie, la Voie Lact\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ces caract\u00e9ristiques vont bien au del\u00e0 de tout ce qui a pu \u00eatre observ\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent. Malgr\u00e9 cette telle intensit\u00e9 lumineuse, il est impossible d&rsquo;observer \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il nu la supernova situ\u00e9e dans une galaxie lointaine, \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 3,8 milliards d&rsquo;ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de la Terre. Sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;identification de supernova, l&rsquo;ASAS-SN est parvenu \u00e0 observer ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne record \u00e0 travers les t\u00e9lescopes chiliens de Cerro Tolol.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019explosion de cette \u00e9toile en fin de vie (ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de \u00ab\u00a0supernova\u00a0\u00bb) semble donc d\u00e9passer l\u2019entendement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0Les scientifiques sont franchement dans le noir sur la nature de ces \u00e9toiles et les m\u00e9canismes stellaires qui pourraient expliquer ces supernovas extr\u00eames\u00a0\u00bb, confie\u00a0encore Subo Dong.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le\u00a0t\u00e9lescope spatial Hubble \u00e0 la rescousse<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alors, que savons-nous de cette supernova unique\u00a0?\u00a0Elle\u00a0a \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9e par t\u00e9lescope en juin\u00a02015\u00a0\u00e0 Cerro Tolol (Chili) et est\u00a0situ\u00e9e \u00e0 3,8\u00a0milliards d\u2019ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re (une ann\u00e9e-lumi\u00e8re \u00e9quivaut \u00e0 9\u00a0461\u00a0milliards de kilom\u00e8tres) de la Terre.
